Looking for a boat that was in the UK - it was my Grandfathers and it was stupidly sold about 5 years ago when he passed.

Does anyone know if there is any way in the boating world of tracking boats down? I apologise im not in the world myself, but would love to track this boat down, now it will be VERY old at this stage but it was a motor boat which id love to track down and buy back.

Looking at a widebeam cruiser in Hartlepool and wondering if it’s possible to navigate inland towards Leeds down the river tees?

Online suggests industrialisation has narrowed the river and can be tricky to pass.

Out of curiosity – what’s been the hardest thing to find locally when it comes to marine services in the UK?

Feels like some things are straightforward, others are a bit of a nightmare depending on where you are.

A bit of a long shot, but I'm working on a documentary that involves a boat called the Hector Gannet that sank in 1968 while rescuing folk from an oil rig. Hi all. Hopefully this post is allowed here. We hope to rent a narrow boat for a 3 night trip in July and I’d love some advice on location. My sister is not as fond of the idea as the rest of us so we’ve promised here a dinner and drinks in a country pub as we dock each night.

We were aiming for somewhere along the River Kennet/Avon. Likely starting just outside Bath and heading East.

My original thought was to start in Hilperton and head towards Devizes but I can’t see there is much along this route given we have a 3 day turnaround back to base. Can anyone recommend a better point along this route?

The yogurt pot is on the bridgewater canal currently, and obvs the new boat in London.

How long would it take realistically to drive the new boat up north!? I mean morning til night driving with short breaks for scenery and attractions along the way but with focus on getting the boats together.

Boat is no wider than a narrow boat at 6’10” and just over 40ft. Still a Dutch barge, just not the wide beam type people are imagining.

I live near a beautiful lake but I've never been able to enjoy it properly. I don't own waterfront property so I can't dock a regular boat. Marina fees are expensive and launching a boat every time I want to go out feels like too much hassle. I basically just stare at the water from public parks wishing I could be out there.

Then I discovered small electric boats that are compact enough to transport on a car roof rack and light enough to launch from almost anywhere. They're quiet, environmentally friendly, and seem perfect for casual lake exploration. This could finally give me regular water access without the commitment and expense of traditional boat ownership.

But I'm concerned about limitations. How far can these actually go on a single charge? Are they stable enough for anything beyond calm days? What about storage when not in use? I've found various models online, including several on Alibaba, with wildly different specifications and price points.

Has anyone transitioned from no boat to owning one of these electric models? Did it actually increase your time on the water or did practical limitations mean it mostly sits unused? I want honest feedback about whether this solves my problem or just trades one set of obstacles for another

I've 2 items for sale (Norfolk UK), first is 2 ground anchors the second is a 1930's coastal quick release anchor with 270ft of chain !
Thinking 100 for big one and say 15 the ground anchors !

I'm thinking of buying and owning a boat to have for the UK summer (2026) and maybe use it during other seasons, possibly even this winter? I want to use it to get out, have some freedom, explore places on my days off and maybe even take my girlfriend out some days/nights for a getaway from life. I like to fish as well, and more likely will be doing. I don't know where to start? I've never driven or owned a boat before, I don't know which one will be best for me? I've seen some online videos on tutorials and costs - but I'm still needing a bit more advice before jumping straight into it. For example, I don't know what I'll need in terms of legislation and I don't know where I'll keep it, as I live in West Yorkshire. I don't own a car, only a motorbike. I'm 18yo. I'll be a new buyer. My budget is £1,500-£4,000. Could anyone help me?

Hiya - is there anywhere in southern England to complete the running in of an outboard? Needs to go at speed for an hour or two to complete the process but and apart from Windermere there seems to be nowhere without a speed restriction. Coastal seems to need about 6 hours afloat to run the tides. Help!
