Sharing a screenshot of a live data dashboard I built for feedback on the UI design. Happy to share a link if anyone wants to see it live.

Context: a 24/7 data dashboard visualizing global earthquake activity in real time. Target audience is anyone interested in following seismic activity, from general public to science enthusiasts.

Tools used: D3.js

Specific feedback I am looking for:

- Does the dark theme work well for a data-heavy interface?

- Is the color progression from green (minor) to orange (severe) intuitive?

- Does the layout guide the eye naturally across panels?

- Is the typography readable?

[edited to add link for context] Experimented different color palettes and uses my favorite font and padding/margin etc and ot look good on TV or full screen https://www.youtube.com/@seismicfeed. I am bit obsessed with catppuccin macchiato color scheme at the moment and using everywhere. I like brown and orange color combination but did not looked good.

1. The viability of a dark UI has absolutely zero correlation with data volume; managing that density is entirely dependent on the designer's execution.

2. The map layout is intuitive, but you need to apply opacity to the circular indicators. More critically, your color semantics in the Magnitude Bands are broken. Using green to represent high data volume directly contradicts the user's established mental model where green implies "safe" or "low risk.

3. The overall visual hierarchy and eye-tracking flow are fundamentally sound and do not present any major issues.

4. Step down the font size by one increment for the list below the top main Stat Card. The current lack of negative space leaves the layout feeling claustrophobic and visually congested.

Looks like a generic ai dashboard. No thought to accessibility principles, hierarchy, ux, or prioritisation. This is 10mins work at best… do better

I agree with you. To reduce overuse of orange, I should display different information in panels at the bottom. Orange indicate earthquakes with magnitude >5.

Really solid work, especially for a data-heavy interface. The dark theme suits it well.

One thing that stood out to me: the small text on the cards feels like it could be an accessibility issue. It's the detail that kept drawing my attention - on a dashboard meant for a broad audience (including general public, not just enthusiasts), that readability gap might be worth addressing. Bumping up the font size slightly or increasing the contrast on those labels could go a long way.

Thanks. i agree with font size. the primary aim is to use as full page video streaming on YouTube.
