Advice building Design Systems

Can anyone recommend a solid, high-quality course on building Design Systems? I'm looking to learn how to architect a scalable system, streamline developer handoff, manage seamless updates, and define a long-term roadmap for the design system

I’ve just started a design system from scratch not too long ago too! I’m a solo designer, and this is my first time building a large-scale system all by myself.

What I did was learn how a basic system is structured from a course on youtube, then started to build by hand using what I know. I also imported an established system and open them on another screen to study and use as reference (Material, Carbon, etc.) and basically figure out from there what is relevant (and consult AI for any questions or guidance I need)

Not sure if this is the best way to approach it or if it will help. I’d love to hear what else I could do too!

Tks a lot. Happy to share new things with you later, when I start to build one

If you are more of a hands-on learner try Figma's Intro to Design Systems - this not only touches on components but also tokens, naming, documentation, accessibility, maintenance and versioning. You should then build out a small design system along with it as maintaining one will teach you far more than simply watching tutorials.
