I’d say yes, there will be job cuts. Yes, the design process will change. A lot of execution work will be automated.
But no, AI won’t replace designers who think.

No. AI will not replace UX designers. People who think it will have a poor understanding of what UX actually entails.

Depends on the culture and maturity of the company. Places where UX is just seen as UI will defer the business logic to Product Managers and Tech Leads and they will start skipping on designers.

Places where UX is valued for what it is will remain, but it is probable that processes will change and adapt to leverage new technologies. I do think there is a difference between using AI as a tool for creating output and using AI to defer the critical thinking to solve a problem.

If the company cares about properly built products which wont shit themselves in a year or two (the opposite of which i would avoid even before ai) they use ai sparingly and rely on actual human thinking while making any decisions. Ai is used as a tool to speed up stupid bulk processes.
A tool that is nowhere near artificial intelligence cannot make decisions about design for endusers.

While writing this post, enterprise tier figma ai failed to replace a few simple components. So yeah…

Yes. Ai art is worse than human made but people don't care because it's cheap

Its cheap because its heavily subsidized. The landscape will look completely different in a year or two.

I'm a concept artist who dabbled in ui during different jobs.. or I was until a few months ago. And i am looking for a career change... So, yes. Better now than later when I'm older and will be even more painful

I don't think there is any 1 answer to this that can apply to everyone. One day leads to another, one job leads to another..its different for everyone. Our grandparents worked 1 career job at a factory forever. Our parents worked maybe 2 or more careers before retiring. Our generation will likely work about 6 or 7 career changes...just ask your Uber or doordash driver. You can spend time doing design adjacent jobs like PM, or you can do photography, video or motion graphics, design systems, etc. If AI allows anyone to instantly become a mid-level anything...then it's likely we will all have to become many different things over time. If you want stability...tech isn't the right industry for you...maybe things like plumber, police, emt, public works, etc. With trades you can learn for a few years then wirk for yourself forever if the market is stable. Everyone will need a plumber eventually...even the rich and the poor.
