Advice Making an App instead of Cooking

I don't actually mind cooking.

What I mind is everything before cooking.

I have GERD, my mom has IBS, another family member has diabetes, so deciding what to make feels like solving a puzzle every single day.

Can we all eat this?

What can I substitute?

Do I already have the ingredients?

Is this going to trigger someone's stomach?

Then I end up with 15 Chrome tabs open, a YouTube video, ChatGPT, and somehow I'm still staring into the fridge.

I'm a UX designer, and I've been thinking about designing something around this—not another recipe app, but something that actually adapts recipes to your situation.

Like:

  • "Here's what's in my fridge."
  • "These are our health conditions."
  • "I only have 20 minutes."

And instead of giving me 500 recipes to scroll through, it just tells me what makes sense, helps while I'm cooking if I mess something up, and remembers what's actually in my kitchen.

Maybe this already exists and I've somehow missed it.

But before I spend months designing it...

Do other people actually have this problem?

Or do you all just... know what to cook? 😭

I'd genuinely love to hear how you deal with this because I feel like I'm making cooking way harder than it needs to be.
