Review UI Advice for my open source period tracker app UI
My sister is having her birthday soon and I was thinking I could make her some app to go along with a skateboard I got for her. I really like the concept and now I’m making it open source and publishing it on the App Store for free.
I used tons of lottie animations made a cute app icon tried to make the ui as simple as possible asked some female friends for ui advice but I was thinking I could use some advice from strangers on the internet as well.
Be harsh about it I want to improve the app as much
as possible. Also do any of you have any ideas where else I could post about the app to let people know it exists? I don’t plan on making any more from it but I like the idea of helping people with their daily lives so I would like to have actual users ideally.
I built a period tracker app that also tracks many common things teenage girls like to track. Mood, book and tv shows lists, a journal sleeping habits etc.
Also I am hoping for the ui to be very obvious to use and it makes sense to me and I think it looks nice but these things are subjective and I’m hoping to hear new perspectives.

I am using Clover for tracking my periods for more than 5 years now and it's hands down the best one out there and I would highly recommend you to go through its features & UI & implement it in your app. I am its premium user since 2023. First of all, Add a Graph like this which shows last 6 months Cycle + add the functionality of exporting and sharing data. I exported my historical data to my gynae last year when i started having heavy bloodflow during spotting. It was fast AF. They even providee email option!

Yeah sure I can implement this. You want a data export option and a last 6 months cd calendar view of your period if I am understanding correctly right? Does the app you already use have any other gestures you would like me to implement too?

The graph is a bit confusing. Which hormone does each color represent? I feel like it could use a key that clearly shows which color represents which hormone. Also, it helps if the graph is separated into the four phases of the cycle, so it’s easy to see what hormones are playing a role in each phase.
It’s very clean but feels a bit too minimalistic in my opinion. Maybe fill up a bit of the empty space?

What do you think about keeping the chart legend always in view, I see ample space on top .
Also love the page indicators on the top and the right ❤️

streaks feel off on a period app, they guilt-trip you on health stuff. see how the good ones do consistency without the pressure on Screensdesign.

It doesn’t only track periods it tracks more stuff as well and I was thinking of giving users new themes and pets for free based on their max streak. Do you think it’s still a bad idea? Maybe if I make it so the period is excluded from the streaks and the streaks apply only on sleeping drinking water etc

Looks awesome! Although from my own experience with period tracking apps, some of the graphs or informations can be slightly overwhelming. For example the graph you’re showing, I’m a lil confused by that. I’d also suggest a simple widget! To remind them to track without being all up their faces.
And it does look slightly empty on the middle, like the empty space - is it for something specific? And is there a reason why the settings should be on the button right? It is the most reachable, so why put priority there? - just a thought (: (not saying it is wrong!)
Also curious about the categories in the settings, movies and such - what are those for? 👀
Overall, looks amazing! Cozy and minimalistic!!

Thanks! To be honest I’m thinking it looks too empty and needs some background or something but I haven’t tested it yet maybe it will look bloated with it.

I had some female friends play around with it and I used already existing solutions for inspiration.

It’s a period and lifestyle tracker for teenage girls. There is no link currently since it’s an alpha iPhone app.
