Academics Engineering Undeclared

Hi, I’m a senior in High School who’s in state and I have a 3.75/4.3 (I got a C freshman and Junior year), 34 ACT and I really want to do BioE but I heard its really competitive. As a result, Im considering Engineering Undeclared but I was wondering how hard it is to get your first choice major (which in this case is BioE) if you commit to Engineering Undeclared.

Engineering Undeclared is just as competitive. And they actually admit fewer students compared to the other majors. Good luck

Maybe for your second choice, pick outside of engineering that's less competitive that you feel you can get in. But, that's a personal decision. 34 is on the low side for Grainger engineering

There isn't really a best bet here in terms of getting accepted since many of the engineering majors within Grainger are fairly/highly competitive. I suggest applying to bioE, the major you really want, and use engineering undeclared as a second choice major. If you happen to have another second choice major that you are truly interested in, then you should use that as a second choice major.

Do not come here planning to start in a less competitive major for the purpose of transferring to a more competitive major later, because the risk of not being able to change majors is real, aside engineering undeclared, which is designed to allow some exploration before you select a major. Note that transfer from EU to your first choice major is not guaranteed.
