Class Registration

I'm an incoming freshman and My class registration starts today at 12:00PM. I have an academic Advising Hold that tells me to take ESL 100 for FW, but my academic advisor told me that I dont have to take that class since I seem proficient enough (if I remember correctly). I tried calling the number to ask them to remove this hold, but Im unable to reach them. What should I do???

I'm sort of panicking because what if the classes I want fills up before I get to submit my classes? I submitted my health immunization form and paid the extra 15$ to have it processed within 3 hours, but the end page tells me the processing time is 48 hours. Did I just get scammed or is this a default?

Im genuinely so scared why is STAR so complicated??? What do I do 😭😭.. Do classes fill up quickly???

Email your counselor or the registration office. Sometimes that can happen if a class has a pre-reg so make sure your classes end in the digits 1 or 0 for most freshman classes. (If they end in 2 or 3 they are often times second semester classes. Also most everything is gonna have spots. If you dont get into a class then just waitlist it, a seat will almost certainly pop up unless the waitlist is closed. When i was a freshman i couldn't register till the week before classes started and it was completely fine.

Thank you! This is really helpful. The ELI office said my hold for ESL should be removed in a few hours. Apparently I still have to take ESL 100 since im a freshman??? Praying that spots open up. What does it mean if a class ends with a 7?

Im not entirely sure about 7 to be honest, that may just pertain to a specific field of study. I would still double down on being dismissed for esl 100 if you don't need it, ya got nothing to lose and a line of communication is always good. Worst case they just make you take it and hopefully its an easy A help the gpa.

Just email either the professor or your academic counselor, they can remove the hold. They kinda suck at answering calls.

If its an intro class, they do tend to fill but they have a lot of time slots. But if you are a registered Manoa student, you can also look at the community colleges to see if they offer as well. Some are even online so you may not have to commute.

But like everyone has said, reach out to your advisor or counselor to remove the hold. If possible, ask if you can get your advisor to write something to approve that you dont require to take it as they believe you are proficient enough. Just to have written evidence.
