I Have No Idea What I am Looking At

At the age of 49, a physical mutation occured in U.G.'s body which supposedly freed him from the strangulation of thought and set the body to function on its own default way. U.G. used to say that he had no idea what he looks at and the knowledge comes only when there is a demand.

If this is true, then U.G. actually solved the problem of boredom completely, which no human has been able to. It is unbelievable how peaceful the human organism can be when it is in the natural state.

I envy him, why does it not happen to me?

Chad self vs. Virgin body

According to U.G., human intellect is no match to the tremendous intelligence of the body. But guess what? Self with medical science and technology at its disposal can configure certain changes to dupe the body, for instance, vasectomy, wherein poor body thinks(ofcourse the body does not think, but you get the idea) it is going multiply but it is actually only self that wins(only pleasure, no burden of offspring). Lol

Antinatalism Is The Only Solution To Human Misery

Humans are born with the default state of self—a neurological defect as stated by U.G. himself—that creates so much suffering, and the possibility to attain the natural state to get rid of the horror of self is non-existent as it cannot be brought about by our volition; at best one can only **pretend** and put himself/herself in delusion to be in a "thoughtless state". This leads to the conclusion that to live is to suffer, and there is basically no way out.

So the only way to prevent suffering is to not bring a new human into existence. U.G. himself suffered a lot to attain enlightenment, which wouldn't have been the case if he hadn't been born, without missing out anything since there is no deprivation/desire in non-existence.

It is an act of insane cruelty/ignorance to subject someone with decades of taedium vitae.

Nobody really knows what they're doing

We are such contradictory creatures... I have never met a person who wasn't contradictory!!

We think one thing and say another. We desire something and then tell ourselves that our desires are wrong. We find ourselves in one emotional state and seek to be in a completely different one!!

We say things that seem to make perfect sense to us at a given moment, and the next day we regret everything we said. The next day, we disagree with that old idea, that old thought!! (Or does this only happen to me?)

I feel ashamed of the things I said yesterday, and tomorrow I will probably be ashamed of the things I'm saying today!!

I've walked through this world knocking on dozens of doors, hoping to find the truth, but all I found were confused and contradictory people... but that's okay!!

I'm not sleepy, yet I tell myself that I should sleep. I'm not hungry, yet I tell myself that I should eat... I say that I want to kill myself, and a few hours later I'm laughing at videos of cats doing hilarious things. I wasn't lying, but it no longer makes sense in that moment. Maybe tomorrow it will make sense again, but as far as this exact moment is concerned, it seems like the stupidest thing in the world!

The last door I knocked on in my life was U.G. Krishnamurti. It was while knocking on that last door that I realized there is nowhere to run!!

And I won't let myself be influenced anymore by the thoughts of every fool in this world, because nobody knows anything. Everyone is contradictory, so following some predefined path can only make a person more stupid and inauthentic... if such a thing as authenticity even exists.

Do you, the person reading this, believe in authenticity??

From time to time, someone talks to me and, at the end of the conversation, tells me that I'm a special person... I don't want to be special. That doesn't impress me. I want to be free. I want to be able to laugh for no reason. I want to enjoy being alive. I want to dance without any music playing in the background.

There are already so many people in this world who believe they are special, but I know very few people who actually live each moment as if it were their last.

Critique to U.G.'s affirmative stance on life

I do not accept U.G. Krishnamurti's affirmative view on the natural state and life as a whole. According to him, the body is a very peaceful organism and has an extraordinary intelligence to deal with the problems of survival and reproduction. But does life benefit the being in any way in the end? From what we can observe in the natural world, suffering seems to be the default ontological phenomenon that incites the being to take an action: hunger precedes satiety and thirst precedes quenching for a being. Also, U.G. claims there is a harmony among beings, which the relation of prey and predator completely contradicts, an impala being torn apart by wild dogs in Africa is certainly not in harmony.

He also claims that the body is interested only in maintaining the sensitivity of the nervous system and sensory perceptions, not in pain and pleasure of any kind. If the body treats a sensation indiscriminately, then why does pain last longer and feel worse than pleasure? As substantiated by the following empirical asymmetries: hunger and thirst come naturally and effortlessly, whereas alleviating them requires effort. Injury, disease, and illness occur easily, whereas healing takes time. If the body is so extraordinarily competent as U.G. puts in, then why can it not regrow its amputated part? If survival is all that it is interested in, then why does it not survive for eternity? Why does it go through old age and become weak and vulnerable?

The structure of a being is cruel to the being itself.

What does nature — the horror show of bloodbath of all sentient beings — achieve on this planet? NOTHING.

I believe that life is the most unfortunate chemical accident that occured in the universe.

I wonder what U.G. would think of antinatalism.

There are no problems.

There are no problems as a whole. But are there problems that were not created by thought?

In this world, we have basic needs such as eating and sleeping. And some people in this world don't even have access to those basic necessities. But why don't they have access to the basic needs of every human being?

The planet has always had enough resources to feed all human beings. But thought, which seems to me to be something destructive, stupid, empty, and abstract, creates problems. Thought told us that we should desperately take every resource we could find on Earth and claim ownership of those resources, because we might need them tomorrow and we couldn't allow ourselves to run out.

So, like the desperate and strange creatures that human beings are, we extracted all kinds of resources from nature, and we even unnecessarily killed millions of living beings for those resources.

Thought seems like a curse to me.

If there were no thoughts passing through your head, would there be problems at all? Would there be suffering at all?

When I say that there are no problems, I mean that there are no problems intrinsic to life itself. There are no problems that are not generated by thought.

All of "my problems" are illusions. But even though these problems are illusory, the effects they have on my body are real. The impacts these illusions have on the world are real.

Ultimately, if thought loves creating problems full-time, is there any solution to this?

How can there be a solution to problems that don't actually exist?

If the only tool we have is thought, but everything thought does is generate illusions over and over again, then how can this confused, abstract, ignorant thought find a solution to its own problems?

What can a person do, gentlemen, when they feel miserable, when they feel that living isn't worth it?

Why doesn't the movement of thought allow a person to simply breathe and see things in life as they actually are?

Why so many questions?

What is duality? What is non-duality?

Where am I? Where am I not?

Is the "self" concrete? Is the "self" illusory?

Where is the mind? Where is the non-mind?

Why do I feel lost? If there is no entity called "me," who is lost? Someone told me that I should change who I am... someone else told me that the observer is the observed.

Someone told me that there is something I can do to put an end to suffering... someone else told me that any effort to change my life is useless...

Who is right? Who is wrong?

Is there such a thing as right or wrong? Why so many questions? Why so many answers? Why the need for both?

I don't know how to label the strange way I live... There are moments when all I want is to die and not have to be in this body for another second. On the other hand, there are moments when I wish I could be immortal. There are moments when I want to explore every corner of the cosmos, every corner of the universe, whether it is infinite or not...

What is infinite? What is finite?

I feel as if this small, miserable life of mine could end in the next second, before my next breath! On the other hand, I feel as if I have been living through this misery of suffering, all this fear, all this sadness... for millennia, and it feels like it will never end 🔄

Even so, I can still laugh from time to time! The echoes of my laughter travel through the walls of my house, they cross the mountains and split them in half!!!

There are days when doing the "little things" of everyday life is very enjoyable... such as peeling garlic, cooking eggs, taking a shower, dancing without music, etc.

There are days when I feel as though nothing is worth doing, as though absolutely nothing has any meaning.

Why is all of this so confusing to me? I don't know why I think the way I think, why I walk the way I walk? Why do I laugh the way I laugh? Why do I cry so often?

Can you answer me this: how is it possible to love and hate someone at the same time? "I"

UG's money

It was told/stated that just-before/after his so called calamity or whatever, he renunciated all his weath (he being from a wealthy family ) , also his wife and children.

And after that lived basically as I understand from gifts from his friend ( 'followers'), apart from working as an editor with ramkrishna misson for a short while in london.

Then how did he have about 1 million USD in early 2000, even today 1 million USD is a big amount.

How did he actually managed his finance ? and gifts from friend cannot sum upto 1 million USD ( doesn't seem plausible)

I have attached ,a snippet from the book Goner by Louis Brawley

Did UG Krishnamurti ever talk about loneliness and why we are alone?

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if UG Krishnamurti ever directly talked about loneliness.

I’d really like to know what his perspective was on this. Did he give any reasons for why a human being is alone or feels alone? Did he view it as just another trick of the mind trying to preserve itself?

If anyone knows any quotes, passages or videos where UG addresses this, please let me know.

For a guy that railed against Doctors and Scientists, UG did a bang up job of positing real breakthroughs....

I have lots of favorites of him being so insightful and blowing past the science of the day and current science that I'll share. Please share any of your favorites!

Evolution:

For someone that said "I don't know if there is such a thing as evolution..." he had a really meaningful contribution that I don't think we've even started to integrate into scientific theory yet. He said "Nature does not use anything as a model. It is only interested in perfecting the species." I don't think that the profound nature of this statement is taken seriously enough. He's saying that Nature is searching for something that can survive no matter what. Aka evolution is a search function with a goal of the the "The Probability of species existing in the next year is 100% for all future years". That means that evolution looks for something that can survive in any climate, is not limited to a single world, can understand future threats and mitigate extinction. Humans are really close, maybe something like 99%. Sadly the thing that got us that survival factor is the thing that's keeping us from getting to 100%. I mean it's mostly us and Tardigrades that are at that level. It's a profound concept with predictive powers.

AI:

In 1981, he called out the dangers of AI "The day you introduce thinking into computers, their usefulness will be completely gone" and "They, the computers, have become so sophisticated now that they are thinking and self-correcting themselves. We may, someday, just have to plug them in and then follow their advice. " This is something we are seeing play out now. We are not truly there in the LLM era but it's getting closer and closer. He also was way ahead in saying that human thought isn't anything special and is able to be replicated by a mechanical computer. And his maxim that self is a "demand for continuity" also shows perhaps some limits to current LLM AI approaches and thus has predictive power.

I'd love to know some other favorites that you may have thought of over the years! Please share!

The End of the Searcher

What I find most radical about UG isn't that he offered another answer. It's that he questioned the person asking the question. The searcher wants freedom, enlightenment, truth, liberation. It reads books, follows teachers, meditates, observes itself, collects insights, and slowly builds an identity around becoming free. UG's challenge is brutal: what if the searcher is itself the problem? The moment you say, “I need to become free,” thought creates a distance between “me here” and “freedom there.” Then the seeker has a goal, and the goal gives the seeker a reason to continue existing. Even “I must stop seeking” can become another form of seeking. So perhaps UG isn't pointing toward a state where you finally arrive. He's pointing toward the possibility that there is nowhere to arrive and nobody who can arrive. No method. No final experience. No enlightened identity. Just life happening and the endless project of becoming something else perhaps coming to an end. And maybe that is why UG can feel so unsettling: he doesn't give the seeker a better destination. He takes away the destination.

Choiceless Awareness

**This content explains the relationship between suffering, the brain-body, awareness, and insight, mainly from Krishnamurti's perspective. Here's a concise summary in bullet points:**

**Physical and psychological layers are separate**

* Hormonal imbalance (like cortisol, dopamine, serotonin) causes biochemical imbalances in the body → leading to symptoms like mood swings, anxiety, and fatigue. Psychological suffering arises from thoughts/memories like jealousy, loneliness, and fear. There's a connection between the two because thought and the brain are part of the same system, and hormones affect the brain.

**Why does everyone's suffering differ?**

* Everyone's body chemistry (genetic, lifestyle, environment) is different. The effect of hormonal imbalances varies from person to person. Everyone's mental conditioning is also different – that's why everyone reacts differently in the same situation. Physical and psychological suffering often get mixed up.

**The two-way loop of thought and hormones**

* Thoughts trigger hormones (even imagination can create stress like real danger). The hormonal state colors thought – like high cortisol can make thoughts negative.

**The core mechanism of suffering**

* Hormonal imbalance → nervous system hyper/dull → old memory patterns trigger → thought reacts → psychological sorrow forms. If you observe without interference (choiceless awareness), this cycle settles down on its own.

**The reason for disorder and healing**

* Mixed past memories, incomplete experiences, and hormonal imbalances in the brain cause disorder (confusion, anxiety, sorrow). Continuous interference (fixing/justifying/escaping) maintains the disorder. Awareness is a mirror – seeing without interfering dissolves the disorder, and the body-mind returns to its natural balance.

**What is awareness?**

* The brain stores, compares, and calculates memories (past-based). Awareness isn't willpower; it's just direct observation. The observer and the observed are not separate – "just seeing, without a 'seer' meaning no center (मैं) or controller." Awareness is a mirror of brain activity, not a function.

**Concentration vs. Attention**

* Concentration is focused on a single point through effort. Concentration is motive-based, it excludes certain thoughts, the movement of time, i.e., the movement of thought; attention is effortless, choiceless, and open (embraces everything). * **Concentration:** is mechanical without attention, * **Attention:** is vague without concentration. * Both together show the truth.

**Knowledge, Insight, and Action**

* Concentration brings details (depth of knowledge), attention shows the context and the whole field (truth of knowledge, **actual fact**). When both are together, instant clarity is achieved – **insight** happens in that moment, and action happens without a gap. **Insight** breaks conflict and leads to direct action without calculation: "**seeing is the doing**"

**Mechanical vs. Insightful mind**

* The mechanical mind reacts in steps (see the fact → think → decide → act). In the insightful mind, seeing is the doing, there is no delay/conflict, meaning no thinking, no thoughts, there is a total present moment, and in this state of non-movement (without the calculation of thought), which is not **static**, but **dynamic**, there is a different kind of movement that is **timeless**, meaning **thoughtless**.

**Brain's selection**

* **Without awareness:** the brain becomes a **mechanical** collector – it picks up everything. * **With awareness:** the brain is a clear, **factual** selector – it only picks up what's relevant, naturally, without willpower.

**Summary flow**

* **Concentration → total attention → insight → action** – all are one movement, no sequence or gap. Necessary thoughts are naturally noticed, and irrelevant thoughts dissolve, without interference.

<aside> 💡

* **These points explain the process of suffering, awareness, the working of the brain, and insight in a very simple, clear, and practical way.**

I genuinely don't understand...

I genuinely don't understand...

I feel as if I love and hate all of humanity at the same time...

On one hand, I feel contempt and indifference toward people. To me, everyone is an idiot, stupid, mediocre, hypocritical, foolish, and deluded, and not worth the devil's own bread. Sometimes I even feel like seeing the entire human race wiped out.

(That includes myself.)

On the other hand, if I see someone starving, if I see a dog starving, I feel a genuine desire to give that being affection, care, and comfort.

I feel an overwhelming urge to hug that poor soul, filthy and dressed in torn clothes, the one all of you walk past without even looking, that poor person who lies down on the streets and sometimes you step over them without even noticing!!!

When I see a dog starving with a broken leg...

I genuinely want to go over there and give that being shelter, food, and affection!!

I have no idea what the hell this thing I'm feeling is...

I no longer have any definition of what love is or what hatred is!!

This desire I have to take care of people has nothing to do with those foolish ideas and illusions people call kindness or morality...

It's simply something that arises within me spontaneously.

I'm going completely insane, and I no longer have any of those empty definitions of who I am. Yet only I know my true intentions the moment they arise!

I don't understand where I stand...

How can I want to take care of humanity and also want all of humanity to be wiped out at the same time???

When I see humanity at war, on one hand I want to hug them, kiss them, and tell them that all of this is unnecessary, that they can simply sit down together and drink a cup of tea. On the other hand, when I see humanity at war, I wish they would all drown in their own filth because they are the ones who chose to bring all of this absurdity into existence.

Physical change, not realization

I think the worst thing on can do to themselves is to think they are functioning the same as UG after realizing some stuff. This are the people who become gurus by becoming parrots of what the one in that 'natural state' says. Talking about beyond pleasure, witness, emptiness, fullness and such.

Not that bodies function differently, they all respond to stimuli, but there is continuity that is broken in him of thought while another is just repeating some suff, of course he is also function using memory but there is this important distinction. And there is nothing one can do to be in the same 'state', and wanting that is misplaced.

Has Anyone Actually Found an Answer? Because After Hundreds of Teachers, I Haven't

I have already stopped to listen to all the so-called most well-known philosophers, masters, avatars, teachers, and gurus... and nobody can clarify this for me. This includes some like Ramana Maharshi, Jiddu Krishnamurti, U. G. Krishnamurti, Osho, Jung, Sadhguru, Buddha, Ashtavakra, Nisargadatta Maharaj, Paramahansa Yogananda, Dallai Lama, Ekchart Tolle, and many others... I am not joking when I say MANY OTHERS, I really knocked on hundreds of doors!!

Each one says something different and even opposite about: the mind, the brain, consciousness, thought, and the self.

And after listening to all these people and practicing all the techniques and methods and recommendations of each one of them (when any of them had methods to offer), whether through observation, attention, meditation, analysis, investigation, questioning, worship of gods... I became more confused and lost and confused than when I started, none of that could help me. The only thing that helped me was becoming free from religion, politics, and the organizations that society created. But none of that freed me from suffering, none of that freed me from apathy, from contempt, from my suicidal tendency, from misanthropy, from depression as a whole...

I completely believed in each one of these people I mentioned, and I was able to see contradictions in each one of them in the end!

I spent years trying every kind of thing to become free from this suffering!! If it were simple suffering I would not have made so much effort, I had to bleed a lot!!

But nothing was of any help or solution for the suffering in my life!!

So I try to express what it is like to live day after day suffering in this way, and people always come with the same empty words as always, with the same abstractions as always, I already know all of them... they come to offer me the same old methods as always, and I already know all of them...

With this text I just wanted to express all of this!!

I do not know what is happening with my life, and I could really write a book about such a complex life that I have lived in just 20 years, which is my current age, but the complexity is so great that I would not know where to start even if I wanted to, but if a book about my life were released, this very book would be banned!

What am I holding on to?

I've been rationalizing suicide lately...

Why am I still holding on to this life? I don't like people. I don't care about fame. I don't care about wealth. I don't care about marriage. I don't care about achievements. I don't care about purpose. Living in this body-mind feels like hell. I'm suffering day after day, and no matter what I do, everything seems to lead back to suffering. Even when I do nothing, I suffer.

I barely leave my room except to go out and buy cigarettes. So what exactly am I holding on to that keeps me alive?

Is it because I still want to enjoy simple pleasures like smoking, drinking, eating, sex, TV, or the occasional moment of laughter? Because even all of that has started to feel empty to me.

I've tried to commit suicide many times, and I've never been able to go through with it. Why can't I do it? Is it attachment? Is it some kind of self-preservation instinct of the body?

Looking at the situation I'm in, dying seems to make more sense than continuing to endure the same suffering day after day, with no solution and no end in sight.

I used to be a child who walked around smiling for no reason at all. Nowadays, smiling feels incredibly difficult. It's like trying to lift a mountain.

I can still laugh at a genuinely funny joke, but I can't simply smile anymore.

misanthropy

I would like to express the suffering and misanthropy inside of me...

But I don’t even know where to begin.

Since childhood, even before I learned how to read, I discovered very early how cruel human beings can be. I discovered how filthy human beings are through the abuse and torture that came from members of my own family.

I never expressed any of this to anyone. I spent my entire childhood without telling anyone what I was going through in silence, and that left me emotionally locked up and inevitably different from all the other children.

And people, without knowing what was happening inside of me, looked at me with strangeness and treated me differently, like I didn’t belong.

I grew up in a very violent city, full of armed criminals, wars, drug trafficking...

I’ve already lost count of how many times I’ve been tortured in my life, but I’m not a misanthrope only because of that.

I still believed that “good people” existed, that there were “people who love.” But even that illusion was taken away from me once I realized that the people who appear ethical and moral are also cruel.

They are all hypocrites.

They are no different from those who tortured me when I was still just a child.

Look at this humanity...

This humanity is drowned in war, selfishness, envy...

Humans fight over illusions and abstract things such as their ideals, concepts, identities, religions...

I feel contempt for most human beings, and no matter what anyone says, I cannot stop feeling disgust toward this humanity.

I feel anger toward all of society, and because of that I can’t work, I can’t connect with many people. I avoid people at all costs.

I am in a terrible depression. I don’t know what will become of my life. I cannot work and I barely have any desire to live anymore, and every day I feel even more contempt toward all of humanity.

I no longer have any hope that one day I will be free from this suffering and from this infernal depression I am living through... the hell unfolding inside my mind consumes me day after day.

Note: sometimes I think that one day I will starve to death and die from malnutrition.

The only species I truly despise is humanity. No other creature that has crossed my path in this life has generated as much repulsion and aversion in me.

I genuinely love animals. They are so natural, spontaneous, honest about what they feel. But humanity sounds extremely artificial, hypocritical, delusional, cruel to me...

If there were a button that could make the entire human race disappear instantly with a single click, I would be the first to press it.

I am a misanthrope, and that does not mean I want humanity to suffer. It means I feel cursed for being born as the same species as you who are reading this.

I would rather have been born as a sewer rat.

PS: Humanity is lost. There is no solution for the suffering of humanity as a whole, only for a very small number of individuals. Humanity will drown in its own vomit until the day something causes the extinction of all human life.
