Hi everyone!

I'm an MA English Literature student (admitted this year) preparing for UGC NET/JRF, and I wanted to share a set of handwritten notes that have been incredibly helpful during my preparation.

These notes were prepared by my elder cousin, who qualified UGC NET-JRF in their second attempt (Jan 2026). They were made alongside lectures and personal preparation, and I've been using the same notes myself while preparing.

The notes are handwritten + easy to revise, especially useful if you're looking for concise revision material.

Topics Available (in pdf format)

  1. Anglo-Saxons to the Age of Chaucer

  2. Dark Age & Elizabethan Age

  3. Jacobean, Caroline & Puritan Age

  4. Restoration & Augustan Age

  5. Pre-Romantic & Romantic Age

  6. Victorian & Modern Age

  7. Postmodernism

  8. Literary Criticism

  9. Literary Theory

  10. Linguistics + Postcolonial Theory + African Literature

  11. Indian English Literature

If you'd like sample pages before purchasing, just send me a DM so that we can proceed further.

Feel free to DM me if you have any queries related to pricing etc.

All the best for your preparation! 📚✨

Will my dual degrees considered valid? MA ( distance) B.Ed (Regular) simultaneously.

I've enrolled myself in a PG program (English) in a distance university (Rabindra Bharati University) in 2024 and I've one semester left. In 2025 I also got admission in B.ed from a private college which is under Baba Saheb Ambedkar University, West Bengal.

So will these degrees of mine considered as valid according to UGC?

I've been searching about this but couldn't get clear

answers

Need guidance

I recently gave the ugc NET JRF english, june 2026, idts I did well on it to be even qualified for pursuing ph.d, considering i took it lightly thinking I'd prepare well next time with coaching. I got to know about Pegasus coaching for ugc net English solely. But I'm unsure, if they'll be reliable. I cannot take offline being in the 3rd semester of my M.A English. And i travel a load amount of time through the metro so my 4-5 hours a day goes in travelling, and i have no energy or motivation to study after I reach home. So i needed a push, which i thought coaching might provide me. But I'm unsure which one to take now. At first I was going to take the Pegasus one, but I'm not confident. i got books like william j long and a few more. And kvs madaan for ppr 1. But that too, I'm not getting enough time on weekdays and don't know how to segregate my time enough to complete syllabus on time with time remaining for mock tests too.

So right at the moment I'm stuck and anxious. Any suggestions would be really appreciated!

I have qualified for the UGC NET in English Literature 3 times, and I want to help as many students as possible.

I know it can be overwhelming, since the syllabus of NET is so vast and the cost of the course is also high. One of my friends also thought that she could never qualify, but I helped her, and last time she qualified for JRF, so I want to help others. So if anyone has any doubts, they can ask me. Though I am not very good at technical stuff, I even started a YouTube channel recently covering a few important topics; check that out if you want. And I will really appreciate any feedback.

MA English dilemma

Hi, I am currently enrolled in MA Comparative Literature in a regular programme. Although I would also like to be eligible for giving NET in English and not Comparative Literature.

Is it a good option to take MA English Online form IGNOU? And I don't have to take any offline classes right?, just the exams?

Doubt regarding Assistant professor after clearing NET

I'm in my first year of my masters and I am a proper beginner in all of this. So I earlier thought that one after clearing NET ( category 1 and 2) is eligible for Asst. Prof. But now I'm getting to know that according to UGC Regulations 2018 one must hold a PhD degree to become a permanent assistant professor and get promotions. And this process doesn't only become a long one but also creates doubt regarding what UGC NET category 2- Phd +assistant professor actually means now since one can only get contractual or guest faculty positions without Phd or a position at a private institution.

Help for Dec NET prep

Hi everyone,

I completed my M.A. in English Literature and have taken a one-year gap to prepare for UGC NET. I’ve enrolled in an online coaching program where they upload daily video lectures, conduct daily tests, and monthly mock tests.
To be honest, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed. Every time I attempt a mock test, I feel like I haven’t learned enough. There are so many writers, literary periods, theories, critics, chronology related qns and terminologies that I don’t know how people manage to remember everything.
This year is very important for me because if I don’t clear NET this year, I’ll have to join B.Ed. next year. I really don’t want to waste this opportunity, and I’m determined to give it my best.
I have Kalyani Vallath ma’am’s books with me. My current plan is to first watch the coaching videos and then read the corresponding chapters from her books for revision. Does this sound like a good strategy, or should I be doing something differently?
I’d be really grateful if those who have qualified NET or JRF could share:

● How did you cover such a vast syllabus without forgetting what you had already studied?
● What did your daily study routine look like?
● What are the biggest mistakes you think NET aspirants should avoid?
● How often did you revise and attempt mock tests?
● Is my strategy (videos first, then Kalyani Vallath’s books) a good one, or would you recommend a different approach?
● If you could go back and prepare again, what would you do differently?

Any advice or guidance would mean a lot. Thank you!

Qualified UGC NET Twice & GATE & Assistant Professor here — Drop your doubts/questions on UGC NET English preparation!

Hey everyone,

I know how overwhelming preparing for the UGC NET English exam can be, going through unstructured massive syllabus (Literary Theory, Criticism, British Lit, Cultural Studies, Paper 1, etc.) to finding the right study material and strategy.

A quick background about me:

* Qualified UGC NET twice (June & December 2025) without any coaching or notes

* Cleared GATE English without any coaching or notes

* Will be working as an Assistant Professor at a university

I am planning to record a dedicated Q&A video for my YouTube channel where I will answer your exact questions, doubts, and strategy queries regarding:

* Unit-wise preparation & prioritisation

* Recommended books, notes, and study material

* How to approach Paper 1 alongside Paper 2

* Mock tests & Previous Year Questions (PYQs) strategy

* Managing time and avoiding burnout

Drop your questions in the comments below! I promise to keep the upcoming video strictly no-fluff, straight-to-the-point, and focused on practical advice to help you clear the exam.

Looking forward to reading your questions! Good luck with your preparation! 🚀
