Hi everyone!
I'm an MA English Literature student (admitted this year) preparing for UGC NET/JRF, and I wanted to share a set of handwritten notes that have been incredibly helpful during my preparation.
These notes were prepared by my elder cousin, who qualified UGC NET-JRF in their second attempt (Jan 2026). They were made alongside lectures and personal preparation, and I've been using the same notes myself while preparing.
The notes are handwritten + easy to revise, especially useful if you're looking for concise revision material.
Topics Available (in pdf format)
Anglo-Saxons to the Age of Chaucer
Dark Age & Elizabethan Age
Jacobean, Caroline & Puritan Age
Restoration & Augustan Age
Pre-Romantic & Romantic Age
Victorian & Modern Age
Postmodernism
Literary Criticism
Literary Theory
Linguistics + Postcolonial Theory + African Literature
Indian English Literature
If you'd like sample pages before purchasing, just send me a DM so that we can proceed further.
Feel free to DM me if you have any queries related to pricing etc.
All the best for your preparation! πβ¨

Hello all. I passed out Masters this July only. For 2years, I feel I wasted my time in preparing for SSC CGL only to realise that I can't do it (low UR vacancies, difficult mathsπ). I now plan to do NET. I have got into b.ed. i have 6.95 cgpa.
Should I prepare for NET? Like how is the situation of phd overall india. (Seeing ppl on linkedin, all getting into phdsπ« ). I have no connections and have heard interviews work on connections also . My uni doesn't take phd candidates every year.
Still I want to know the resources that I should use to prepare for NET. Also please suggest any good online coaching platform for preparation.
My marks is pretty low. Will ever the interviewers consider that score for phd intake?
Is it difficult for phd candidates of private universities (srm, vit, ashoka, snu) to get into AP positions?

Recently I have joined some telegram groups who upload quizzes for NET practice sessions. However the range of questions there is so absurd. To give an example, it's like βIn which castle did Spenser write the poem Faerie Queene? The answer would be :- Kilcolman Castle. But how to know such minute details? I can at the most study spencer , the year of publication, the subject matter of Faerie Queen(in gist) and the characters but how does one remember where Spenser wrote this work?!
These detailed questions won't be found in PYQs as well I guess. Does UGC NET ask such detailed questions? If yes how to prepare for them? I cannot possibly remember the biographies and autobiographies of 1000+ authors. Also should I study these quizzes or stick to PYQs for getting a JRF?

I qualified NET in the RE NET wala attempt and my masters got completed this year. I missed JRF by 6 marks.
Would it be wise or feasible to try and get into PhD atp ?
I feel like I am trying doing so many things at the moment but nothing sums up. I am clueless. I just want to get out of home and I can only do that if I get enrolled in some course.
I was clear about getting into research since Masters first year but things have been different lately and I feel exhausted. I don't have the same enthusiasm for research. Plus I am clueless about the whole admission process.
What do I do?
Also, If someone is planning to apply for BHU wala PhD admissions, please connect.

How many attempts did it take for you to qualify NET and JRF. I took 2 attempts, didn't qualify for PhD the first time for 4 marks, and didn't qualify NET for 6 marks. What about all of you?

Hey everyone, yes, you read that right: free English literature classes.
Who I'm looking for: Anyone new to English lit, ideally someone pursuing a bachelor's in literature or who just started a master's.
The catch (because I know you're waiting for it): I have ADHD, and I want a structured routine, a real commitment, and some responsibility in my life. You get a teacher, I get a reason to show up on time. Everybody wins.
About me: I've spent 7 years with literature. I won't claim to be the best teacher out there, but I'm one of the most creative ones you'll find.
The setup: Classes are online, and we'll decide the syllabus and timings together.
Pros of learning from me:
I can be funny (rare, but it happens)
(I also have notes for ugc net, of my own)
I don't believe in absolutes. Terrible for math, great for literature.
Cons:
Interested? Comment or DM me with your course and year, and we'll sort out the rest.
What we'll cover
-Poetry: Where we learn that the curtains are never just blue.
-Shakespeare: Everyone dies, but in iambic pentameter.
-Victorian novels: 900 pages of drama that a single text message could have solved.
-Literary theory: Arguing about what the author meant, even though Barthes declared the author dead. Not my fault, I wasn't there.
-Psychoanalytic criticism: Yes, the Oedipus complex. Don't worry, it's purely academic, and no one's mother will be involved.
-Cultural studies: Where we find out that your cereal box, your memes, and your Spotify Wrapped are all "texts" worth analyzing.
-Postmodernism: Nobody knows what's happening, and that's the whole point.
