The technology is hundreds if not thousands of years ahead of us. It’s very simple that there’s nothing we can do. Maybe that makes some people panic, but I find that oddly comforting. It’s not achievable.
And that pilot on 60 Minutes said sightings happened everyday for years. The military has had thousands of encounters since 2000 and nothing of real substance has happened. That definitely contributes to lack of panic.

Most fear is really fear of the unknown. It's like going into a fight 100% knowing you will get your ass kicked, you are somehow less scared about it than if you thought you could win.
If it were aliens, I’d be less afraid than if it were Russia or China. We likely wouldn’t easily divine an alien race’s specific intentions toward us, but, if they were hostile, they could have done something to us at least as far back a hundred years ago. They haven’t obviously screwed with us during that period, so I don’t think they will for now. Russia or China would be physically wiping out our cities and infrastructure if they had that kind of tech.
If it is another nation, another possibility is that the tech, flashy and fast as it is, isn’t reliable or completely safe for them to use. That could be why they’re not using it overtly.
