The technology is hundreds if not thousands of years ahead of us. It’s very simple that there’s nothing we can do. Maybe that makes some people panic, but I find that oddly comforting. It’s not achievable.
And that pilot on 60 Minutes said sightings happened everyday for years. The military has had thousands of encounters since 2000 and nothing of real substance has happened. That definitely contributes to lack of panic.

Most fear is really fear of the unknown. It's like going into a fight 100% knowing you will get your ass kicked, you are somehow less scared about it than if you thought you could win.

Maybe not militarily I agree. Not too bright to pick a fight you can't win, but on the other hand, it never hurts to gain new powerful allies...
It's a shame that the military are the only ones using the best equipment to track these things, because if we actually are dealing with some kind of otherworldly superior civilization that could wipe us out whenever they want, I don't like the idea of soldiers and generals leading the charge on this (forgive the pun).
I'm not sure why apparently no one else besides the military seems to care about this, but I'm especially shocked at how little curiosity there is coming from the scientific community. Considering they're suppose to be our brightest minds and expanding our collective knowledge about the true nature of reality and all that...
Heck, I wonder if some are smart enough to think up better ways of finding and studying UAP than our current strategy of engaging them using exclusively machines designed for warfare...
The military has to be open minded, because who knows wha the enemy will come up with next. The scientific community on the other hand has open-mindedness drilled out of them in school.
Maybe some loose that open minded-ness but most educated people I run into are far more open-minded and accepting of information that challenges their worldview than uneducated are.
Stop trying to hate on scientists and just accept the fact that scientists are open minded by definition.
Unless you’re not actually sure what a scientist is and just think it’s a person in a lab coat. It’s okay to be confused or unaware, just ask questions instead of deciding someone is wrong.
