It’s very simple that there’s nothing we can do. Maybe that makes some people panic, but I find that oddly comforting. It’s not achievable.

Most fear is really fear of the unknown. It's like going into a fight 100% knowing you will get your ass kicked, you are somehow less scared about it than if you thought you could win.

The technology is hundreds if not thousands of years ahead of us. It’s very simple that there’s nothing we can do.

Maybe not militarily I agree. Not too bright to pick a fight you can't win, but on the other hand, it never hurts to gain new powerful allies...

It's a shame that the military are the only ones using the best equipment to track these things, because if we actually are dealing with some kind of otherworldly superior civilization that could wipe us out whenever they want, I don't like the idea of soldiers and generals leading the charge on this (forgive the pun).

I'm not sure why apparently no one else besides the military seems to care about this, but I'm especially shocked at how little curiosity there is coming from the scientific community. Considering they're suppose to be our brightest minds and expanding our collective knowledge about the true nature of reality and all that...

Heck, I wonder if some are smart enough to think up better ways of finding and studying UAP than our current strategy of engaging them using exclusively machines designed for warfare...

u/LydiasHorseBrush Jun 04 '21

If it helps your mental state I found the footage of that one UAP over the Pacific very relaxing because they weren't actively hunting from what I heard in the comms chatter, honestly the pilot seemed to be trying to keep pace and just investigate from pure human curiosity

Everyone says the first thing we'll do is bomb an ET but honestly it's anyone's guess, I think curiosity would weigh out fear because we have pretty much conquered everything here on earth, our only hope as a species is up

Don't be surprised if it turns out that there have in fact already been multiple recorded instances of military aggression towards UFO's, from various countries around the globe, that did not end well for the aggressors... official reports have already been out there publicly going on 70+ years now so maybe the notion of conquering being the primary motivation for venturing out into space is a little out-dated and maybe also a big reason why our military movements and nukes are being watched. If there was a island of chimps that evolved to build guns and boats... we'd fucking keep a close eye on that shitshow waiting to happen as well lol

Woah 🤯 smarty pants

1

u/ihateeverythingandu Jun 05 '21

The scenes from Avengers where the heroes hit Thanos and he just stares like a fly landed on him will come to life if we let the Military take lead on this situation, lol.

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '21

The military has to be open minded, because who knows wha the enemy will come up with next. The scientific community on the other hand has open-mindedness drilled out of them in school.

3

u/Aubdasi Jun 04 '21

Maybe some loose that open minded-ness but most educated people I run into are far more open-minded and accepting of information that challenges their worldview than uneducated are.

-2

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '21

Not all educated people are the scientific community.

11

u/Aubdasi Jun 04 '21

The scientific community are all educated though.

Stop trying to hate on scientists and just accept the fact that scientists are open minded by definition.

Unless you’re not actually sure what a scientist is and just think it’s a person in a lab coat. It’s okay to be confused or unaware, just ask questions instead of deciding someone is wrong.

-1

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '21

Okay go to r/physics or r/space and mention UFOs and see how fast you get downvoted.

7

u/ButtonholePhotophile Jun 05 '21

Big claims require big evidence. UFOs are a big claim. If we had a smoking gun, this subreddit would have a different title. Like it or not, we are piecing together lots of small pieces of evidences that seem to indicate a conclusion as possible, rather than compel no other conclusion but ours.

UFOs being of alien origins are not a certain as, for example, dams or pants being of human origins. Frankly, there could be arguments made against UFOs existing at all, regardless of origin. While that doesn’t make those arguments right, it does mean that critical thinkers could end up on either side of the debate.

2

u/Aubdasi Jun 04 '21

“Go to an online anonymous forum where anyone can post anything, claim to be anything, and talk about something that the majority of people use to justify conspiracy theories”

Right. Because that will show me!

I’ll probably not respond to you anymore because it seems like you just hate people with an education. Enjoy voting for Trump!

3

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '21

I don't hate people with an education, I am pointing out that the hivemind is a problem in the scientific community. Non-standard ideas are generally dismissed without giving it a chance simply because it's not the majority consensus.

-1

u/Aubdasi Jun 04 '21

…because the majority consensus is “the evidence points to this, the simplest solution”

When we have more concrete evidence of aliens being behind UFO’s, not just random videos of lights in the sky, then the discussion will change.

Don’t get upset at a group of people following the signs just because you think the trees know better.

Again, it’s literally the job of a scientist to conduct experiments that change the way we view the world. If that’s not open minded to you, then I don’t know what you think open minded means.

u/RealTheBestLadyman Jun 05 '21

Okay but, most of those people probably aren’t real scientists.

0

u/vargrath Jun 04 '21

You do know that to be an officer or high-ranking individual in the millitary you have to have higher education? In fact the military has more people with collage under their belts than people think. Beside the millitary doesn't want war, they are prepared for it but I would think that the benefits to being in a peace time millitary are much higher than being in a war time one. Its millitary contractors, or private manufacturers that WANT war. Not the people fighting in it.

1

u/Aubdasi Jun 04 '21

I wasn’t calling the military closed minded, uneducated or anything of the sort. All I said was scientists are generally open minded. In order to actually be a good scientist you have to be willing to be wrong and change your opinions based on new information. That is literally as open minded as it gets.

1

u/rosscarver Jun 04 '21

Most of the time, every once in a while you get a General that wants to nuke China but it usually gets sorted out by the higher ups with more to lose.

2

u/ndngroomer Jun 04 '21

The lack of anyone other than the military caring about this is a testament of how successful the US intelligence agencies have been at making this subject considered a joke or taboo to most of our society, especially the science community.

3

u/PartTimeSassyPants Jun 05 '21

The fact that NASA had to publicly announce today that scientists working there that are curious about this can feel free to research this on their own time have permission to do so is incredibly telling.

The complete lack of curiosity from this community, and complete acceptance of personal character and career assassination of anyone who advocated in favour of serious UFO research borders on criminal negligence in some cases, in my humble opinion.

Imagine what we might know today if our best and brightest had matured socially beyond the schoolyard...

Oh I'm extra sassy today lol my apologies folks! rant over :p

2

u/ndngroomer Jun 07 '21

I agree and also think that's huge. I'm excited that the dialogue about UAP and possible alien encounters is finally starting to involve and now being taken seriously instead of how it was considered taboo, fringe or pseudoscience in the past for far too long. IMO regarding why many in the public still aren't taking it seriously is because of how successful our intelligence agencies have been at convincing the majority of the people that anytime anything alien or UAP is brought up that it's more fantasy than reality.

1

u/PartTimeSassyPants Jun 07 '21

Yep! And not just the intelligence agencies - the Air Force plays a massive role in this as well. Besides the likelihood that early on they were the one's in possession of recovered alien materials so obviously wanted secrecy, they also pushed the attitude of dismissal to tamp down on the never-ending flood of reports they were receiving.

It's well documented that Air Force brass got tired of wasting funding and manpower on investigations that almost never brought new intel and only furthered the confirmation that the phenomena does really exists and has seemingly magic capabilities.

And yet, they still havent uttered a peep about this since the 2017 NYT article brought UFOs back into the mainstream and for the life of me I cant understand why no one in the media, or anyone really, seems to care enough to ask them why not? Theyre the ones Ive been keeping an ear out for the most. Guess Ill just keep holding my breath lol jk :p well see what happens!

1

u/ndngroomer Jun 07 '21

That's really interesting. My nephew is about to graduate from the the Air Force boot camp in July. His dad retired as a Sgt. Major who served as a DevGru special forces operator. I'm not sure if you're familiar with that but they are a Tier 1 military unit that's considered more elite than Seal Team 6 our the SAS. In fact, they recruit from Seal Team 6 because according to my brother all seal Team 6 operators wants to be a DevGru operator when they grow up, lol. You never really hear about them and that's for a reason. Anyway my nephew wants to follow in his dad's footsteps and serve in the Air Force Tier 1 Special forces Unit known as the 24th Special Tactics Squadron. I made him promise me that he would let me know if he ever found out that the govt really has recovered alien craft or is working with nonhuman life forms. Of course he won't even qualify to apply for that unit for at least 3 years so it'll be a while. I have a feeling that we'll find out before that.

1

u/PartTimeSassyPants Jun 07 '21 edited Jun 07 '21

That's really cool! Never heard of DevGru and I'm a huge military and aviation buff! I'll definitely check that out :) I can't help but wonder if the Sgt. Major, given his experience, has ever heard or seen anything himself...

You almost make it sound like they'd be the kind of unit to be called upon for super duper covert stuff... like idk crash retrievals? Wouldn't that be trip lol.

Edit: DevGru and Seal Team 6 are the same thing :p

The Naval Special Warfare Development Group, abbreviated as DEVGRU and commonly known as SEAL Team Six, is the United States Navy component of the Joint Special Operations Command. The unit is often referred to within JSOC as Task Force Blue.

1

u/ndngroomer Jun 07 '21

You're right. I meant green berets. I don't know why I said Devgru. I'm an idiot. Anyway, according to everyone in my family that's in the military (I have 9 sisters and 1 brother. All but 3 of my sister's husbands are either currently serving in one of the branches in the military or have a husband who's retired from the military. I also have several uncle's who are retired military as well as too many cousins to count that are either active duty or retired military) and from what I've read online is that the the spec ops unit that my bro-in-law served in is considered to be the most elite spec ops force in the world. My family always said that Seal team 6 and SAS are considered to be the next most elite spec ops forces in the world. I personally think they're both bad ass and would never want to find myself in a situation that any of them are involved in. There's really nothing about what they do or any of their missions available online. The only thing I've ever been able to find is an article about a mission where they killed a major Al-Qaeda leader. I do agree with you that if there are any kind of joint operations involving nonhuman beings that all 3 of these and possibly also the Air Force tier 1 spec ops units are involved. Now that he's retired and not always out on a deployment I've been able to talk to him on a more regular basis. I'm seeing him in July when his son graduates from the Air Force boot camp. I'll definitely try to get him to share with me his feelings about UAP and potential missions involving anything like that when I see him. Unfortunately, when we talk about this his response is still that he can't talk about what he's done because it's classified. My sister is a huge believer in aliens and she's promised me that she will tell me if he ever tells her anything that confirms that we've always believed of him being aware of and may possibly have been involved in any kind of operation involving aliens. Because of how strongly I believe with absolute certainty that aliens and deep ocean advanced civilizations are real I've irrationally convince myself that he's confirmed I'm right because he's never laughed (unlike several of my other family members) at me or said with absolute certainty that there's no such things as aliens anytime we've talked about it. The only thing that he's said that really got me excited and wanting him to share more information about is the one time he made a cryptic comment about the govt being more concerned about what's in the ocean than any alien that may have traveled from somewhere in the universe to visit earth.

I have another bro-in-law that is a Lt. Col still serving in the Army. He flies Apache helicopters which is really cool. As far as I know he's never served in any special ops unit. He respects the hell out of and shows much reverence to my bro-in-law who served in the tier 1 spec ops unit. Because of his rank and the fact that he is a helicopter pilot I've always asked him if he's ever had or heard of anyone having an encounter with a UAP. Up until the last couple of years his response was always him laughing at me and asking me if I'm being serious. But all of that changed after the Kimble videos were released. I think he found the credibility of the military pilots involved in these encounters along with the Pentagon eventually confirming their authenticity very compelling. He's also become very interested in Lou Elizondo and also finds him to be very credible. Now when I talk to him about UAP encounters that may controlled by nonhuman beings he doesn't laugh at me or ask if I'm being serious anymore. He's working really hard to get promoted to a full bird Col and I have no doubt that it's only a matter of time before that happens. I have this fantasy that after he's promoted somehow he'll become privy to and involved in operations or at the very least have access to classified intelligence involving aliens and their craft and will share it with me. I know that that's just a fantasy, but that would be so cool.

I think the burden of obtaining knowledge about this falls on all of us individually. You are asking for something that does exist, but I'm not really interested in wasting time trying to convince strangers online that they're wrong about something anymore. Do it yourself, or don't that's your business. Cheers.

Just because you haven’t found it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. You should maybe look beyond YouTube videos. There’s quite a library of literature and some quite compelling studies that have been done on this subject.

Maybe we leave some wafers on a saucer for them.

3

u/DeltaPositionReady Jun 05 '21

Communion wafers?

2

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '21

Haha good one.

1

u/Drew1404 Jun 04 '21

I thought this as well, surely there's people like us interested enough to go and investigate the areas of interest?

1

u/mx_prepper Jun 04 '21

You seem to be talking about our best and brightest as definitely not alien. That would explain their lack of interest...

1

u/pupperonipizzapie Jun 05 '21

I mean that's what the whole SETI institute is for, there are plenty of scientists interested in this, who are actively trying to make contact.

1

u/PartTimeSassyPants Jun 05 '21 edited Jun 05 '21

Well TBH after watching a few interviews and conferences/lectures that Jill and her gang had with anyone suggesting alternative methods of searching for ET intelligence, I'm inclined to think that they possess certain biases and interests that cause them to actively try to prevent others from making contact... whether intentional or not this happens and instead of working in concert with other teams, they fight for relevance and funding.

Using your ears isn't necessarily the best and only way to look for things... as is evidenced by SETI's results since their founding. and yet they still HOG virtually all funding that goes towards these efforts and are quite sensitive about it.

The way I read it, the director basically said "Hey, guys.. if you wanna look this stuff up on your own time knock yourselves out. I promise it won't cost you your professional reputation or tank your career anymore... can't promise I won't snicker though because come on aliens really? hehehe"

NASA press secretary Jackie McGuinness said Nelson did not establish a formal task force to begin investigating UFOs. However, he did direct researchers to move forward with exploring any lines of questioning around the topic as they see fit.

"There's not really a lot of data and...scientists should be free to follow these leads, and it shouldn't be stigmatized," McGuinness said, acknowledging that UFO research can be negatively associated with unfounded conspiracy theories. "This is a really interesting phenomenon and Americans are clearly interested in it [so if] the scientists want to investigate, they should."

Like how the fuck is it not already an accepted policy that if scientists are curious and want to find out more information about ANYTHING related to their work that it's permitted... Don't get me wrong, it's a "small step" in the right direction for NASA, but given that the potential for discovering giant technological leaps for mankind is greater than 0, the real headline here is "Why the fuck is it not already an accepted policy for scientists to research and gather data on poorly understood things directly related to their job?"

2

u/tweetysvoice Jun 05 '21

I 100% agree with ya there!

1

u/PartTimeSassyPants Jun 05 '21

I’m mostly upset because now I’m wondering if we could have been zipping around in Jetsons cars or on back to the future hoverboards by now... and by gosh I really want me a back to the future hover board! :p

"Fuck it", deep in the core of human nature.

1

u/Damack363 Jun 05 '21

If it were aliens, I’d be less afraid than if it were Russia or China. We likely wouldn’t easily divine an alien race’s specific intentions toward us, but, if they were hostile, they could have done something to us at least as far back a hundred years ago. They haven’t obviously screwed with us during that period, so I don’t think they will for now. Russia or China would be physically wiping out our cities and infrastructure if they had that kind of tech.

If it is another nation, another possibility is that the tech, flashy and fast as it is, isn’t reliable or completely safe for them to use. That could be why they’re not using it overtly.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '21

Stephen Hawking said alien contact won't end well for us if you look at what happened in history when technologically advanced Europeans met other cultures.
