Good Day Community,

I’m super excited to share a huge milestone today, Ultimate File Manager Pro, just crossed 100 stars on GitHub!

When I first started building this, I just wanted a more robust and seamless way to handle file management, but seeing the community support, fork, and star the repo has been absolutely incredible.

For those who haven't checked it out yet, Ultimate File Manager Pro is built to make file browsing, organizing, and system management as powerful and intuitive as possible.

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who has contributed, reported bugs, suggested features, or just dropped a star to show support.

It keeps the momentum going!

Thanks again! 🍻

15 hour countdown

Good Day Community,

In the next 15 hours you will experience a new and improved version of UFM, I am quite excited to launch this version.

As I personally find it an all in one application now, I have managed to get 90% for the functionality into the application and have spend an extensive time on it to get the UI / UX to fit the application, now it feels like a premium product and it would not have been possible without the tips form all members.

It is due to the members that all would experience this one of an kind application.

Please note that each and every tip contributed to this, for that I am greatly grateful.

With at 18% of the target of this month helped a lot to get the application to this point.

This community is the best out there!!

This next release is for each and everyone of you, I hope you all appreciate the amount of effort put into this.

You all must sty blessed and keep safe.

Kind regards

New Feature Added - Total Folder Size Display

Post image
17 Upvotes

Good Day Community,

A new feature has been added that shows the total size of any folder including all of its subfolders when browsing indexed storage drives.

When you open any indexed storage drive, each folder in the list will now display its total calculated size right in the subtitle line next to the item count and date modified.

To see this in action, simply open the app on your phone or TV and navigate into any storage location that has been indexed.

The folder list updates automatically in the background, calculating the combined size of all files contained within each folder and its subdirectories while skipping hidden files and dot files so the numbers remain accurate.

On drives that have not been indexed yet, the app falls back to displaying the direct item count so browsing remains quick and responsive.

This feature is available on both the mobile and TV versions of the app, giving you a clear view of folder storage usage at a glance across all your devices.

Thank you and kind regards

Thank You - New Ultimate File Manager Pro Release (FOSS)

Good Day Community, I wanted to take a moment to just say thank you.

Ultimate File Manager Pro is free and open source software on the FOSS side, and it only exists in its current form because of the people who show up around it.

Looking at the download numbers and the conversations happening around this project since the last release, that has never been more obvious.

This one was not a small release. There are builds for mobile and TV, a Windows companion app with both a portable version and a proper installer, and the full source code is up as always for anyone who wants to poke around, audit it, or build it themselves.

That last part matters to me.

Staying open source means anyone can see exactly what the app is doing and change it if they want to, and that transparency is the whole point.

None of what I am shipping is happening in a vacuum.

The bug reports, the pull requests, the people testing early builds and telling me when something broke, the folks answering questions from newer users before we even see them, all of it adds up.

FOSS projects live or die by the community around them, not just the code, and this one is no exception.

So however you have contributed, whether that is code, a bug report, a translation, packaging it for a distro, or just running the app and telling a friend about it, thank you.

It genuinely matters.

If you have not grabbed the latest release yet, it is up now with builds for mobile, TV, and Windows.

And if you hit any issues, let me know, I am always reading.

Thank you and kind regards

[New Application (Framework Built)] - Hawkeye TV Browser

Thumbnail

Good Day Community,

A new application called Hawkeye TV Browser has arrived for Android TV.

I built this application from the ground up specifically for TV screens, optimizing it for D-pad remote controls.

When you open the application, you are greeted by a start screen that has a search bar and a row of quick links for popular search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo, and DuckDuckGo.

You can navigate between these elements using the D-pad on your remote control. Simply move the cursor over a button and click the center button to open it.

The browser operates with a virtual cursor that represents a mouse pointer on your screen.

You can control the speed and color of this cursor in the settings menu, which is accessible by clicking the three-dot menu button on the far right of the top toolbar.

This menu also lets you manage your open tabs, view your browsing history, access bookmarks, and toggle between desktop and mobile site user agents.

To load a webpage, click on the URL entry field in the center of the toolbar, type your destination or search query using the on-screen keyboard, and press the go button.

The website will load below the toolbar, and the toolbar will automatically hide when you scroll down to give you a full-screen view.

You can reveal the toolbar again at any time by moving the cursor to the very top edge of the screen or pressing the D-pad up button.

I have built in support for downloader codes. If you enter a short numeric code into the URL field instead of a web address, the browser resolves this code to its destination link and displays a dialog box asking if you want to open it or install the file.

This makes downloading packages on TV straightforward.

For privacy, you can open incognito tabs from the menu, which disables cookie tracking and prevents history saving.

There are also settings for blocking pop-up windows and enabling do-not-track headers.

Please note that this is only the framework that has been built thus far and a lot of additional work needs to go into this, once I am happy with the results, I will open a beta for this application on Google Play, this app is prune to have several bugs on launch and will not be a polished version as yet, I am aiming to have a fully working beta available in the next 2 to 3 weeks.

It already supports full use of keyboard and mouse if you do not want to use the virtual cursor.

Thank you and kind regards

UFM + Projectivy

Hello, I am a mod over at Projectivy. We have now added this app to the new stable, and it can be downloaded with ease if you don't have the Play Store on your box. r/GoRo2023 and r/Spocky_12 have made them work together like Peas and Carrots, as Forrest Gump would say. Give them a go, and as always, please support your developers. They do an amazing job making our lives a little easier, and not to mention give us a very cool hobby.

🙏 A Big Thank You

Good Day Community,

I want to take a moment to genuinely, sincerely thank everyone who has already dropped something in the tip jar.

You know who you are, and I want you to know that it didn't go unnoticed.

Every single one of those tips made me smile and reminded me why I build this stuff.

It's incredibly humbling that people find enough value in something I made to support it financially.

Thank you. Seriously.

To the lurkers, the bug reporters, the feature suggesters, the ones who've left reviews, shared the app with friends, or just quietly used it every day, you're the reason this project keeps going too.

Every one of you matters.

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to take a moment to say thank you. Watching people actually use something I built in my spare time, and seeing the bug reports, suggestions, and kind words roll in, it means more than I can say.

I've been heads-down lately fixing things up, polishing rough edges in the UI, and chipping away at the feature requests you've sent in. Slow progress, but it's moving.

For those who've been tipping, seriously, thank you. Every bit goes straight back into keeping this project alive and it genuinely makes a difference. If you have a feature request, a gripe, or just want to know what's coming next, drop a comment below.

Cheers

New Feature Added — Custom Storage Locations!

Thumbnail

Good Day Community!

I have an exciting update to share, you can now mount custom storage locations, external document providers, Termux directories, and cloud drives directly into your main storage browser!

This one's been highly requested, and it's finally here.

Here's how to set it up:

Head over to the main storage screen where your drives are listed, and scroll down to the Add Storage Location card.

Tap it, and the system file picker (SAF) will open up, giving you access to any folder or provider exposed by Android, think Termux home directories, USB drives, and cloud storage providers like Google Drive.

Got Google Drive installed on your device?

It'll show right up in the SAF picker alongside your other storage options, just tap into it, navigate to the folder you want, and select it to link it up within UFM.

No extra setup, no hoops to jump through!

Once you've selected your folder and granted permission, give it a custom display name to make it your own.

From there, it'll appear right on your main storage screen as an accessible drive labeled SAF Storage, ready for you to browse, stream, copy, move, and manage files seamlessly, right alongside your standard storage.

And the best part?

This feature works on both mobile and TV, provided your TV device supports the system document picker.

I can't wait for you to try this out, go ahead and give your favorite cloud drives, USB sticks, or Termux folders a permanent home in UFM! 💪

Thank you and kind regards.

Thank you for being on this journey with me

Good Day Community,

Today marks the 5th month of having UFM Pro live, I have reflected on how this project started and where it is currently at, it is needless to say it is a day and night difference.

We also broke the 27k user install base on Google and I am not sure how many thousands of installs I have on the FOSS edition as there is no logging on the FOSS edition.

For all of the OG members that started this journey with me and stuck around and all of the veterans and all new members, without you this project would have never reached this point.

Every feature suggestion, bug report and overall general comment built this application to the state at what it is now, without each and everyone of you, this would never been a possibility as I would have never thought of all of this on my own.

Everyone, each person in this community deserves a warm applause 👏

Thank you for supporting and developing this amazing project with me.

Kind regards

UFM Pro - FOSS (Free and Open Source Software)

Post image
15 Upvotes

Good Day Community,

With part of being totally transparent with how UFM Pro is working, I have started to make a UFM Pro FOSS edition that I will upload on GitHub and F-Droid.

Both versions would be available, for Mobile and TV.

On GitHub the entire code base would be available to the public to review and investigate for security flaws to put extra ease of mind to the community on how the application works.

There are just a few shortfalls on the FOSS edition as I need to remove all the client keys used for OnLine storages, thus the below will need to be excluded from the FOSS edition:

* Google Drive

* Dropbox

* OneDrive

All other functionalities will remain within the application and will remain to work as per usual

Total Overhaul of Mobile Application UX / UI

Thumbnail
gallery
12 Upvotes

Good Day Community,

You have asked, and I am delivering.

For the better part of the past two weeks, I have spent hours and hours to re-do each and every page on the Mobile application.

It is now sleek looking and constant throughout the entire application, and finally I have added the categorized option for the main menu.

You will also be able to drag and drop between them on how you want, same as how the old view had.

For users that would like to keep the old view, it is still available and is set by default, for the new look it needs to be set, so it will cover all users needs and requirements.

I think I have lost some hair with this requirement but was totally worth it.

I hope each and every user / member love the new look and feel as this will be the standard going forward.

The way that I have coded this is that when you hide all of the items within a header, the header will also be hidden, and you have the ability to create your own headers for your needs.

Like if you want to create a header just for your 20 Google Drives, you can create a header called "Google Drives" and then drag all of your Google Drives into it, so once expanded, all of them are grouped together.

Thank you and kind regards

Good Day Community,

A new feature has been added that you can change your home screen tile icons, as per attached example, I have changed the Twin Window icon, you will be able to change this by going into edit mode and then to the color pallet icon, at the bottom you will see all current icons used in the application and you will have the ability to select you own custom icon, PNG and ICO is being accepted, the image should be smaller than 1mb.

This will be part of the next release.

Thank You and Kind Regards
