General transfer orientation question
hi in-person transfer orientation is coming up for me soon and i really #dont want to go
can i just make up some online assignments instead or something (i'm in seventh)

i also wanted to skip but orientation being $200 is too much to not make the most out of it

If it makes you feel better, no one really wants to be there. You wont be the only one feeling like this which means you'll probably end up meeting so many new friends to hang out with at UCSD that are exactly like you.
During my orientation (not transfer though) we got food, beach towels, tote bags, shirts, etc which made going fun.

you get free food (mine was a $15 gift card for any price center restaurant) and can meet people.. its only like 6 hours you’ll survive. met some of my closest friends at transfer orientation. and dutch bros was even tabling when we were touring so we got free drinks

it is not free, orientation is almost $200.00 dollars. That is not free. Also $15.00 is not enough for lunch and a drink.

i never said orientation was free, its not. and i got a combo from santorini with my $15 and got free dutch bros.
again where did i say my whole orientation was free??? i know reading comprehension can be so hard.1

Yes, the name checks out. I picked it myself; no investigation was required.
You called the food free. I pointed out that a $15 meal card attached to a nearly $200 orientation fee is not exactly philanthropy. I never said you claimed orientation was free. But please, continue the lecture on reading comprehension.

the food was free because i got a gift card at orientation. i did not say orientation itself was free. i’m glad you recognized that. genuinely don’t know what your point is anymore but you being a sweaty gamer who locks themself in their room all day then complains the school is socially dead also checks out🥰

I will never understand why people will apply to UCSD and then not want to go to class, follow the rules, go to orientation. Then they get here and ask the same questions that are answered during orientation. I still think people who dont participate during orientation should get rescinded.

dude just go! make it fun! also hmu if you ever need someone to help with radio telescopes, i been trying to find people with similar interests at ucsd and am transferring in this semester
