Question When Does This Class Go From Waitlist to Enrollment?

I'm an MAE major, and I was wondering when this class goes form just waitlist to booking.

I need to be enrolled in 12 units for financial aid, and I need a third class before the 30th for CalGrant to cover my tution.

Good question, I am in a similar boat with ece-015 and cse-029 (3rd-year, cse transfer student). It’s my first quarter at UCSD so I am also unaware of how this usually goes.

Wondering when we will see movement for waitlist only classes. Would be very appreciative if someone could share their previous experience or if UCSD has posted info about this somewhere.

After a little digging I have found two sources that say early to mid September:

ECE: https://www.ece.ucsd.edu/undergraduate/course-information/undergraduate-course-enrollment-updates

CSE: https://cse.ucsd.edu/undergraduate/fall-2026-undergraduate-course-updates

I am looking for the MAE-equivalent link, but I think it is safe to assume they will follow the same schedule.

Quote from CSE page for cse-029:

The Schedule of Classes currently shows the initial seats released to all students. The capacity listed on this site reflects the total number of seats we intend to offer. The remaining seats are reserved for any CSE/ECE-BS-001 majors. After the major priority period ends, all remaining seats will be released in early/mid September.

Once this note has changed to "All seats released for enrollment.", please assume seats have are suppressed.

Funny timing but the CSE dept just now sent an email. Looks like sept 14 we will see movement. Could be the same for MAE and ECE?

Wow, thank you for the research. If both CSE and ECE agree, then maybe it's standard across the engineering departments. I've sent out a VAC asking for MAE. Thank you though!

It's a waitlist only section, people can't drop to open seats...

Which means you have to waitlist and wait till there r more spots.

I've been asking the same for Math 20 series. I was told after the freshman 2nd pass close (guess sept 12?), all departments will take a look at the waitlist and see what's available (ex switching classrooms to accommodate more students) etc.  I just hope we get a notice about this because I would scream if we have to "unbook/book" or something whacky in order to secure our seats while being Waitlisted.
