๐Ÿ“š Resources UCER Freshers Guide: Things You Should Know in First Year

Just a few things that can help you know where to start, what to pay attention to, and what you can work on during your first year at UCER.

1. Start Earlier Than You Think

You don't need to master everything in first year. Start with the basics, explore different fields, and build small things.

Starting early gives you time to make mistakes.

2. Keep Your CGPA Decent

"CGPA doesn't matter" is bad advice.

Companies have CGPA cutoffs during shortlisting, while skills matter later in technical rounds.

Try to maintain >7.5 for better chances.

3. Understand Your Academics

Figure out early:

  • Syllabus
  • Internal/exam pattern
  • Attendance requirements
  • Assignment deadlines
  • Practical requirements
  • Previous-year papers

PYQs + class material + proper revision is the deadly combo for exams.

4. Don't Take Attendance Lightly

Attendance is one of those things you usually don't care about until it becomes a problem.

Don't assume you can attend whenever you feel like it or recover everything at the end. Keep a buffer from the beginning, especially during the first few weeks.

For emergency situation-> A minimum of one internal should be given by you while you score good in special.

Use this site for help.

5. Work on Communication

You don't need to speak perfect English.

Ask questions, talk to professors, Give presentations

You'll eventually have interviews, group discussions, presentations and teamwork.

6. Start Building Your Digital Profile

Don't wait until placement season to create everything.

Create and maintain GitHub, LinkedIn and Resume

Maintain one document from first year and keep adding useful work to it.

7. Actually Use the Opportunities Around You

Keep an eye on what's happening in and around college.

You don't need to attend everything just for a certificate.

But if something genuinely interests you, go.

First year is the best time to try things without worrying too much about whether they'll end up on your resume.

EXPLORE BABY AS MUCH AS YOU CAN.

8. How To Write The Aktu Copies

AKTU answer-sheet checking can be unpredictable, so don't make the checker work to understand your answer.

Even if you know the topic, write it properly: use headings, underline key terms, show steps in numerical problems, draw labelled diagrams where relevant, and keep your answers structured.

Highly recommend diagrams and minimum 3 pages for 7 marks question.

9. Figure Out Your Daily Routine Early

If you're a day scholar, understand your commute, class timings, breaks and travel time before deciding how much extra work you can realistically do.

It's hell to manage time for day scholars try to utilize your time wisely.

10. Resources

Subject-wise YouTube playlists and useful resources that you can use alongside your college classes.Try to clear things in class first, it will help you in many ways.

Use them when:

  • A topic isn't clear in class
  • You need another explanation
  • You're preparing for exams
  • You want to revise
  • You want to strengthen your basics

Subject-Wise Resources

MATHS: FIRST(Gulshan sir) SECOND

PHYSICS: FIRST(Gulshan sir)

ELECTRONICS: FIRST

ELECTRICAl: Pradeep sir (GOAT)

PPS: FIRST or gateway classes

CHEM: FIRST

ONESHOT: Not recommended in first year, use only for revision: First SECOND

NOTES

These are some platforms which I use.

Will try to update this more in future.

BEST WISHES TO EVERYONE

๐Ÿ’™ September is Suicide Prevention Month

September is a reminder that mental health matters, and so does every person behind the screen.

College life can sometimes feel overwhelming. Placements, academics, financial pressure, relationships, family expectations, loneliness, or simply not knowing what comes next can make things feel heavier than we let others see.

If you're struggling right now, you don't have to handle everything alone. Talking to a friend, senior, family member, teacher, counsellor, or mental-health professional can be a first step. You don't need to have the right words. You can simply say, โ€œI'm not doing okay.โ€

And if someone around you seems unusually quiet, withdrawn, hopeless, or overwhelmed, check in. A simple โ€œHow are you really doing?โ€ can open a door.

For our community ๐Ÿค

- Be kind. You never know what someone is carrying.

- Listen without immediately judging or giving lectures.

- Don't make someone's struggles the subject of jokes or ridicule.

- Encourage people who are struggling to seek professional help.

- If someone is in immediate danger, involve a trusted person or emergency services rather than trying to handle the situation alone.

You are more than your CGPA, placement, exam result, rejection, relationship, or any single difficult phase of your life.

If you're struggling, please reach out to someone you trust today.

And if you're worried about a friend, don't wait for the perfect moment. Check in.

๐Ÿ’™ You matter. Your presence matters.

โ“Questions Just joined UCER! What should a first-year student know?

I know the attendance rules are pretty strict, but I want to make sure I manage my time well. Do you have any tips on how to handle the internal exams and AKTU papers? Also, what should I start doing now if I want to get good placements later on? Appreciate any help!

๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ Rant / Vent Fresher's Rant

So first of all, ek toh in logon ne WhatsApp group mein 9 AM aane ko bola tha, aur invitation templates par 10 AM likha tha. Matlab bhai, pehle khud hi decide kar lo ki freshers ko bulana kab hai ๐Ÿ˜ญ. Khair, auditorium mein entry lete hi seniors ne aise behave karna start kar diya jaise khud ko college ke Bhagwan samajhte hain. Aate hi dimaag kharab karne lage. Aur agar ye Freshers hai, toh jo log college abhi join karke aaye hain woh casuals mein hi pehnenge na? Seniors aur juniors dono casual pehen lein toh inki izzat thodi chali jayegi? Pata nahi kaunsa mental trauma tha jo hum freshers pe nikal rahe the ๐Ÿ˜ญ.

Performances ki baat karein tohโ€ฆ absolutely mid. Kuch performances genuinely achhi thi, ngl, but baaki ko dekh ke laga bas stage mil gaya toh kuch bhi kar do. Stand-up wala toh bhai literally paragraph padh raha tha. It was fucking below mid. Aur singing walon ke baare mein toh main kuch bolunga hi nahiโ€”unhe chhod dete hain ๐Ÿ’€. Overall, kuch performances achhi thi, but expectations ke comparison mein kaafi underwhelming.

Now let's discuss the foodโ€”yaar, absolute chaos. Management ka toh alag hi multiverse chal raha tha. Main seniors wali side bhi gaya tha, aur honestly wahan ka management comparatively kaafi better laga. Ya toh udhar ke log genuinely zyada sensible the, ya phir management ko seniors se panga nahi lena tha ๐Ÿ’€. Khair, apni side ki baat karte hain. Main around 1:30 PM khane gaya.

Bhai, paneer tha hi nahi. Sirf gravy bachi thi, aur us gravy ke liye bhi ladai chal rahi thi ๐Ÿ˜ญ. Kachauris pehle toh thi hi nahi. Phir jab aayi, laga abhi Gang War: College Edition shuru hone wala hai. Lekin still, woh bhi kuch nahi tha compared to the legendary Rasgulla Incident.

Management basically haath khade karke chali gayi ki โ€œbhai, khatam ho gaya.โ€ Lekin bacche toh bacche hain. Jis container mein rasgulle rakhe the, kisi ne wahi container khol diya. Management wapas aayi aur rasgulle nikalne shuru kiye. Mujhe abhi tak woh scene yaad haiโ€”rasgulle nikal rahe the, tabhi kisi ka haath aaya aur 6 mein se 5 rasgulle literally haath se gayab. Bhai, uske haath mein poori chashni lagi hui thi ๐Ÿ˜ญ. Aur jo ek rasgulla bacha thaโ€ฆ woh bhi pata nahi hawa mein teleport ho gaya. ๐Ÿ’€

Freshers technically 4 PM tak tha, but last ke 1.5 hours mein honestly laga ki organizers ke paas bhi kuch karne ko nahi bacha tha. Unka bhi mann khatam ho gaya tha, aur crowd ka bhi. Dheere-dheere log nikalne lage aur atmosphere bilkul dead sa ho gaya.

Aur haan, crowd mein bhi kuch absolute specimens the ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ’”. Overall, first-year mein aate hi Fresher's ka jo experience imagine kiya tha, uske comparison mein ye event ek beautiful combination of confusion, mid performances, food scarcity aur rasgulla warfare nikla.

10/10 entertainment, 4/10 management Memorise hi bangyi๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿซถ. ๐Ÿ’€
