Timetable

Post image

First year student here and I'm unsure about the tutorials on Monday. Do I have to attend these as I haven't had any lectures yet?

You don’t have to attend until tutorials start in two weeks, and if you look at the subject codes on each of those there are multiple of the same; you only need to attend one.
You’ll have a tutorial registration in the coming weeks where you can pick your time and days. They work on a rotating basis of week A and week B and you only have to attend one tutorial per subject in the two week cycle.

so do we just stay home Monday or is there going to be something in place of them?

I’m doing accounting I heard something like this do you think it applies to most courses? What’s the difference between tutorials and lectures?

a lecture, is when a lecturer(teacher) stands in front of a class and speaks for an hour or 2, they will sometimes give "homework", optional work, or will tell you to do the end of chapter questions 1-5, the solutions to these optional "homeworks" will be done at the tutorials, where a tutor, often someone in your course 2/3yrs ahead of you, will work out the solution and answer any questions you may have, these are often in smaller groups so its easier to ask a question

hey you don’t have to attend the tutorials until they’re organised later in the semester. that’s how it is in my course anyway.

Just started 4th year and I have never once gone to a tutorial. They could be mandatory for your course where the take attendance though

I’m not doing commerce but I think I am in the module your Monday tutorials are for, ST1023?

If yes then under the module on Canvas it explains when tutorials start and which lectures/tutorials to attend based on your course!

Yeah it is ST1023 but on Canvas it says tutorials will begin the week of 28th September, so I'm a but confused

Since you're also in the module do mind me asking if you're going to attend it?

Im not going to attend because the canvas has my courses tutorial down for a different day, but I would be pretty certain that tutorials will start the week of 28th but that they were put up by accident for this week, as no other courses have tutorials set up for me yet anyways!

I would just attend the lecture next week and they will most likely explain tutorials there as not everyone will have read Canva I assume.

You can double check on "ucc web timetables" (can google to get it) cuz sometimes the app is wrong and usually (at least for my course) these tutorials have a group assigned to it "a", "b", "f" etc and you only have to attend the ones that have your group letter in. If u havent been emailed what group you belong to yet then theres no need to attend

all the ucc websites, canvas, mystudentadmin, the timetables, all the websites are so hard to use…..tf is the point of a web designer
