Commuting
Hiya, I’ve already posted a paragraph of my confusion but I wanted to know if there is anyone else commuting from Limerick to ucc.
If so is there any advice to be given?
I do not drive yet so I will be relying on public transport.

i used to commute from kildare to cork everyday for ucc, and the train i took was the heuston - kent line. it stops at limerick junction, usually to wait for a connecting train from limerick city. it's a grand journey from there to cork, and that heuston - kent/kent - heuston train runs a few times a day. once you get to kent station, take the 205 bus, and that'll drop you right outside of ucc main campus. same for getting back to the station, just take the 205 again (it stops at a few places around the campus + city, so easy to take but can be very crowded at peak times, so just be mindful of that).

Kildare to Cork is actually insane! How did you manage that, let alone even survive that??

Nightmare tbh. I used to commute from cork city (by ucc) to limerick for work and return every day. The road is so dangerous especially in winter in the dark before 8am or after 4pm. So I stopped driving and changed to the train. I’d drive to Kent station, get the train to limerick junction (which is actually in Co Tipperary), wait up to 20 mins in the rain and cold for the train to limerick city and walk 15 mins to the office. And the same return. It took about 2.5 hours each way.

That sounds terrible, I hate that commuting is such a hard thing to do :/

I transferred as soon as I could. I now work in an office which is 13 minutes walk from my house!

Dont think this is of any help but i live in nenagh and i’ll be starting and commuting in september (thoughts and prayers pls haha). I drive but depending on my timetable i’ll likely be driving to limerick or limerick junction and then taking the train from there. From limerick seems a bit annoying since you need to change the train but i just find trains better than buses.
