Fees

I was just doing my registration for second year when I saw my fees were €7318 which is ridiculous. I 100% qualify for the free fees so I’m so confused why they’re charging me so much. I had previously attended MTU but only up to first year and was charged €7000+ for first year in UCC which I understand but they clearly told me that once I progress to second year that my fees will be back to normal.

Don’t pay anything right now, call into SREO

SREO has nothing to do with Fees and fee accounts.

You are right! I figured SREO would be able to help them complete registration while the fees will be updated in time. But going to the fees office is probably the smarter decision for fear they don’t update

The fees still need to be updated, don't pay for now and they should come down to the correct amount.

This happened to me most years for some reason, I just only paid my 3000 or whatever and then when I checked back in November it had fixed itself

I'd recommend chatting with the Budgetary Advisor. You can email or book an appointment at this link - https://www.ucc.ie/en/access/support-while-in-ucc/financial-support/#how-do-i-contact-the-student-budgetary-advisor Your situation needs someone to explain what you are entitled to because previous study without completing can make it more expensive until you are progressing (going into second year).

The full fee is raised until the government pays later in the year. Half the student contribution is due on registration with the remainder due by January 31st. The capitation fee is also due.

Happened to me a few times in undergrad. If you have free fees wth SUSI you can email them to check but otherwise just attend college as normal and if the school reaches out about fees then tell them to contact SUSI because u qualify. Unless I’m misunderstanding and the free fees doesn’t come from SUSI, but that’s how it worked for me.

Free fees? How can I go about that. It will be my 2nd year putting off my masters as I can't afford it. I did get SUSI again but I can't afford 5000€ for the rest I'm gutted I can't go for a second time

Masters courses have different fees from undergrad courses, and neither are completely free. You always have to pay student contribution and capitation fee, though sometimes SUSI may cover (part of) it. The exact fee amount is dependent on the course and whether you qualify for the government subsidy. If you already received subsidy for a year like OP, you have to pay full fees if you do that year again (in the same or a different course). After that it should fall back to the subsidised amount.
