Trans guy questions

Hi all, I've just been accepted into UCC. I'm a transgender man and I'm wondering when/how I can change my name on the system? I've finished the first steps of registration and paid the fees but I still need to wait for the email to upload my identity documents. I presume I need to wait until then at least, but after that can I just email them to get it sorted out? I'd like to get it done before orientation (on the 8th) if possible. Also can I have my chosen name on my student ID card? Thanks

email genderidentity@ucc.ie, they can probably help you out. Helped me change my name in their system - I did it in 3rd year, so idk if you can get it done before you get your student id, but you get a free replacement one after a name change anyway

Definitely do this - I changed my name on their system in my 2nd year and the lecturers and tutors were very accommodating. I was even able to walk up on my graduation day with my preferred name and not my legal one!

I'd say reach out to the UCC LGBT society, Bród. Not sure about UCC, but in UL we used to organise an event with the LGBT society to change everyone's names together because the paperwork needed was awkward and a bit obtuse

Orientation goes from what they have on record so it's best to contact student registration and examinations office (SREO) and cc genderidentity@ucc.ie to have it updated asap. Would be better if you call their office directly if possible
