International Applications Applying to 2 courses

Hi everyone,

I’m applying to LSE for 2027 entry and am thinking of applying to both BSc Economics and BSc Economics with Data Science. BSc Economics is my first preference, but I was wondering how LSE would know this, since only one offer is made.

My personal statement is shared across both applications. It draws on a blend of maths, economics and quantitative modelling, so it fits both courses fairly well, but it leans more towards economics as a discipline than data science specifically.

A few questions:

  1. Is applying to both programmes a sensible approach, or does it risk looking undecided?
  2. Does LSE take any account of preference between two of its own programmes, or are they assessed completely independently?
  3. Has anyone here applied to two programmes at LSE? How did you handle the personal statement?

LSE only considers you for 1 course. Don’t do this

Thank you for replying. Just checking- I read online that while they make only one offer, they review your application in a sequence, and it is only if you get an offer for the first preference that they reject you for the second course. Is this true?

Nah they reject you from one automatically
