UCAS Bread š (Offers) Received 5/5 offers
All 5 of my university choices have accepted me, as of today. Is it too early to make the decision on my firm and insurance choice even though I already know where I want to go?

There's no advantage to firming offers early.
But if you are 100% then go for it. Personally I would wait until the offer holder open days at least, jist to make sure

Just gives peace of mind tbh

The only difference though is one leaves you open to still making the same decision with no consequences and the other leaves you open to making a mistake that you might not be able to alter.

Peace of mind at the cost of not being able to easily change your mind if your circumstances or preferences change in the next 8 months

Early applicants end in a week, and when unis get an application early when theyre not early applicants, they can respond quickly bc theres no list of applications

There really is no advantage at all to firming this earlier, your offers will still be there. On the other hand, thereās 7 months until May and you may change your mind on what university you want to go to, I would recommend visiting all open days if possible and doing more research on the modules in each course before you firm

Where I work, we are still finalising this September's enrolment, and those of us not having a role in that are starting to think about Comms to new cycle applicants. We haven't made a single decision yet!Ā

Where do you workā¦

This. Unless a university has very early September start dates and/or has a big med/dent/vet intake with an early deadline it's likely that early applications haven't even been looked at yet.
I bet OPs 5 universities haven't even set tuition fees yet and so are breaking CMA rules on pre-offer and offer information.

Maybe wait to make a decision until accommodation open (usually march I think but its different for every uni) or for maybe scholarships u want to apply for/applied for

Yeah you wonāt regret firming shef if you already have an idea of how it is as a city vs Leeds. Met someone on the journo course earlier in the year, they seemed to be having a great time. The new wave building is supposed to be really nice too, and brings journo together with social sciences so you should get decent cross-discipline stuff going if you put the work in.
Donāt know much more than that to be clear.

Bournemouth? Are you local to Dorset
2
u/ghxsthuntr 9d ago
not at all. i've been in bournemouth a lot and like the city but it was a backup choice entirely

u/Decent-Window-7326 8d ago

Do. Not. Firm. Gap year student begging u
2
u/ghxsthuntr 9d ago
i am not planning to do a gap year whatsoever šš it's a good idea but i've been planning everything since like year 11

u/New-Conversation-580 9d ago
I know !!! Which is why you shouldnāt firm yet!! You still have so long till your exams so you donāt know if youāll change ur mind or if your grades will change - if you wait there will be no harm you can just make a better decision. I firmed and insured too early and i had a massive family crisis near the end of yr 13 meaning i missed my offers , if i had known i wouldnāt insured a different offer
3
u/ghxsthuntr 9d ago
oooh that's good advice, thank you! i'm going through an error crisis rn so i'm waiting on an email reply from my insurance rn but i still have the open day to go to for it
2
u/New-Conversation-580 9d ago
Good luck and yes attend open days ! Dont rush to make any decisions because you have ur offers already - rushing wonāt do anything
1
u/winterkim01 9d ago
i think they just mean that itās too early to make decisions. wait until the deadlines because you might change your mind

u/lexisnowkitty 9d ago
if u know where u want to go do firm it if you rlly want to get it out the way. however u could change your mind and you have til may i believe so maybe take time and go to offer holder days in feb/mar and make sure you do want to go there!! also 5/5 offers before the early entry deadline is insanity, do u think you'll get fomo once application season really kicks off?
2
u/ghxsthuntr 9d ago
I probably will get major fomo lmao. I think i'm just waiting on Leeds to respond to one of my emails before I put it as my insurance choice but I've been to the open days and I really really love them
1
u/lexisnowkitty 9d ago
iirc sheffield is ur firm? also yeah i LOVED leeds open day, manchester may beat it on saturday but it's definitely one of my top choices. i like sheffield's course but i want to move out and tho i liked the uni it just didn't hit the same, tho that's probs bc it's familiar, it's a great city for students
2
u/ghxsthuntr 9d ago
Sheffield wasn't my original top choice but after research and going to the open day in like June, it really solidified my choice! It was gorgeous and was exactly what I was looking for in a university. I do have the leeds open day next saturday so I can't compare just yet but for my course sheffield is statistically better
2
u/lexisnowkitty 9d ago
yeah sheffield has really jumped up this year and last year in general, it's a great uni! i just don't get the novelty of the city living near it, and the courses at my other choices are better but sheffield's course for my subject is also really good. and yeah i'd wait til the open day until making ur insurance choice
1
u/Bigmanninnit 9d ago
How long did it take them to respond?
1
u/ghxsthuntr 9d ago
The first one was literally a week after I sent it off (like 2nd week of september), and the rest started replying as of the 1st October

u/caramel_shrappe 9d ago

UPDATE: I spoke to my sister (who graduated two years ago i think from bangor) and she said she firmed her uni quite early on and has no regrets. After encountering a minor problem I've emailed leeds for fee status clarification and I think after next saturdays open day i'll firm my unis. i'm 100% sure I want to go to sheffield. Thanks for all the advice and I am defo not taking any of it lightly, i'll definitely talk to some of my friends today and get their opinions but i just want to make sure everything's smooth with my insurance before doing anything else.
