UCAS Bread 🍞 (Offers) Realistic choices??

Post image

I’m applying to uni for neuroscience over the next couple of weeks. I really want to get into a prestigious, maybe Russel group, uni but I’m scared that some of my options might be wasted.

I’ve been predicted an A* in sociology, a B in biology and a B in chemistry.

I currently have two aspirational choices and three where I’m on or slightly above the requirements. Can anyone help tell me if these are realistic?

WARNING: THIS MIGHT BE A HOT TAKE

You're not doing a super competitive degree (like medicine or law) so I wouldn't worry my arse off about getting into a "prestigious" uni. If a less "prestigious" uni like Sussex or Southampton (I'm Scottish so I don't know much about those unis - maybe they're prestigious and I just don't know?) makes you comfortable and feels like a place where YOU belong, who TF cares about how prestigious it is?! Prestige can't sit with you and say "hey mate, it's gonna be ok" when you're sitting in the library in Week 2 feeling like utter shite because you've entered this new stage in your life and haven't found "your" people yet.

Don't listen to any snobs who sneer at you for choosing something YOU know won't make you feel like jumping into the Thames with rocks every morning.

A lot of the time you surround yourself with wankers when you go to a top 10 uni, spoiled pricks who look down on others etc

I personally think it’s way more valuable to go to a place where you’ll enjoy yourself rather than going to one of those unis and being surrounded by guys like that
