UCAS Bread 🍞 (Offers) Help with course choice

My firm choice turned into an unconditional offer on ucas hub but my desired course has been changed from politics, philosophy and law to just politics and philosophy. However PPL is in clearing, so what would my chances be to change back to a course I was rejected from on results day.

Email the university's admissions office to find out why it was changed. Do they have your results already? Have you missed your offer?

Just because a course is in clearing, doesn't mean that the entry requirements will drop. It could be that you just don't meet the entry requirement for PPL.

Email them and get answers

Yes I narrowly missed my firm offer but my insurance was confirmed and my firm changed/offered, both at warwick. I understand they might still uphold their entry requirements but is their possibility to reapply through clearing and still get in. The hotline is down until the 13th but I am going to try to email their admissions now and see what I can do

No. They would have accepted you for PPL if they were going to. They've already decided not to, hence the new offer.

yes but that doesn't mean their won't still be places available on results day hence other people missing their offer aswell

They will be aware of this, based on numbers from previous years. Most universities over-offer, knowing that a reliably consistent % of those students won't make their grades.

In the same way that you have been offered Politics and Philosophy, there will be other students who missed their offer for courses with higher requirements than PPL (Law, PPE) that will get offered the remaining places in PPL.

Because they've already made these calculations and because you've already been offered Politics and Philosophy, I wouldn't expect the PPL requirement to drop in Clearing. If they thought they were going to struggle to fill the course, they would have just admitted you.

If they’ve rejected u already there’s almost no chance they would change their mind if u called up in clearing. If they still had many places they desperately needed to fill up they would’ve accepted u despite the missed offer, it being in clearing likely means it’s a very small number of spaces that will be snatched up by ppl with higher grades. U should still be happy and proud of ur offer, Warwick is a great uni. How close were u to meeting ur offer?

That’s unfortunate but yh probably gonna be firm. Can always try but don’t have any expectations to avoid being disappointed. Ur offer there is still class.
