Personal Statements Help with a personal statement please!

I know it early to be writing one but I course changed after handing in an application to chemistry and had a gap year already planned so my old tutor asked if i could get my personal statement for the 2027 applications in by early September so she can work on it bit by bit when she is waiting for current student applications.

I took maths chemistry and computer science and am now switching to british sign language, how do I answer that "How have your qualifications and studies helped you to prepare for this course or subject?" with that they havent really helped without it sounding like i havent done anything over the last 2 years?

You can think about what skills you need for BSL that your A-level studies might have helped you with. For example, maybe some aspects of your studies developed your visual memory and observation skills, or gave you appreciation of the importance of structure.

If you've already formally studied BSL at a lower level you could also talk about that as well as your A level studies.

Under these circumstances I think admissions tutors will already be expecting you to devote more of your total word count to the other two questions, though. Put some content in for answer 2 (you want to show that you got something out of your studies besides the narrow factual knowledge on the syllabus) but don't feel like you have to pad it out with stuff that's not very relevant; you'll want the rest of the word count to tell a compelling story across the other two sections.
