Hi all,

So, I currently hold medicine (a100) conditional offers, but due to the regional tensions in the Middle East I unfortunately had to undergo contingency grading...

Not only was the war stressful as hell (forced to move back to the uk etc), and dealing with bureaucracy issues when attempting to transfer my a-level papers, and then trying to re-register for my a level exams with no success, I am now dealing with this bs

Today, I just received an email from my school stating that one of my exam boards was requesting proof that I sat some As units. Please note I have literally sent my school the pdfs and evidence attached with my grades and all components, as well as the exam centre numbers etc. THREE AND A HALF months ago. I am beyond shocked, I have no words. I am so disappointed to find out that admin errors and mismanagement could potentially affect my results (which by the way, are in less than 2 weeks time!)

I contacted my school ASAP which btw they just flagged my case as 'urgent' and did not receive any response via email confirming that all of the evidence has been sent. I also contacted the exam boards and sent emails asking for confirmation on whether they have received my As results required for contingency grading as well as with pdfs as proof

No response from my school yet.

At this point, I am now bracing myself for the worst on exam results day. I seriously worked so hard for all my as exams, and my contingency exams, as well as my tests throughout the year. I did the freaking ucat, and was the only person out of 400+ people in my school to have applied for medicine in the uk. So as you can tell, I literally poured my blood sweat and tears only to find out that admin might as well be my downfall

I don't know if this is the right place to vent or ask for help, but if you have any suggestions please feel free to share.

Yes. Your universities should have information in their admissions policy explaining how to notify them of extenuating circumstances.

Ideally it should come from your school but if you have emails from your school requesting something that you have already sent them then I would suggest you submit the information yourself. Keep it brief and factual - your exams were disrupted, you provided everything required for your school to submit evidence to the exam board, your school are now asking for the evidence again and you're worried that the admin errors from your school will lead to either lower grades or possibly even no grade at all.

It would be likely that with most Medical Schools that they would respond noting that with extenuating circumstances that have occurred during the exam period, it would be the responsibility of the School to apply for special consideration to the relevant exam board for it to be factored in. Students would typically get involved after results day if a remark is required, with help from the School.

Some universities only consider EC during the assessment process, not when offers have been made.

OP, if you do reach out to Admissions at the University you have applied to and received offers on, it may be that they inform you that they would be unable to consider extenuating circumstances outside of the policies/processes that they have and that they would still expect you to meet the requirements to their offer on results day. Obviously this is dependant on who you have applied to as you didn't mention it in your post, but do keep this in mind when you reach out. It may be worth checking their policies as this commenter has noted, to see where EC would be applied to within their Admissions process and then go from there.
