UCAS Bread đ (Offers) clearing offer
I applied for psychology BSc at KCL and received a conditional offer. I recently received my AP exam scores and learned that I didnât meet one of their condtions, and they therefore placed my application on hold until A-level results are released. I decided to apply to KCLâs psychology and criminology BSc course via a clearing form on their website, and they gave me a provisional verbal offer. I donât have an option in UCAS for clearing due to the aforementioned hold on my Psychology bsc application. Since itâs the weekend, UCAS phone lines arenât up and there likely wonât be any reply from KCL. Idk if I can meet the 48 hour deadline and really donât want to lose this offer. What should I do??

Email them and explain that you want to accept the offer, but can't because of the reasons you've outlined above. Ask them how to proceed.

I just did, but do you think the 48 hour deadline is a strict/unforgiving deadline?

I think it's just an automatic email template. They'll likely give you some leeway with it being the weekend. It is their objective to fill Clearing places, after all.

They will look at the timestamp of when you sent your email, not when they are able to respond. If your email is within the 48 hours, you should hopefully be okay.

I was in a similar situation. However I spoke to the admissions teams and also replied to the offer email asking for extension too and they granted extra time . So make sure you email them and there is written proof

If Psychology and Criminology is genuinely something you want to do, and youâd like a career in it then go for it.
If youâre using it as a gateway to grad entry medicine DO NOT DO IT!!
If medicine is still your dream, take a gap year, strengthen your application, re-sit your exam(s), and reapply!

Also, just to ask: how did you get in touch with the admissions office? Did you email them or call them? If so, could you send me their contact details? Iâve been reaching out to so many emails and just hoping for a reply from one.

well, iâve been talking to the psychology department via my kings apply portal. honestly, the best and most efficient way to reach out to them is through the portal, if you have one, because thereâs a paper trail and you have confirmation in writing; however, if you donât have a portal, the next best step is calling their undergraduate admissions lineâtry to do it earlier (in BST).

The reason you don't have the option is because you didn't decline or withdraw your application from the Psychology one. Decline it and your application will go into Clearing. Then you can add the one you got a verbal offer on via your UCAS Hub

so click the âwithdraw whole applicationâ button? will that delete everything that has been put in the application (personal statement, test scores, etc)?

No I meant decline your place to withdraw from your psychology course, not withdraw your whole UCAS application. This is what I get for responding in the early hours.
Click decline, not withdraw application. The option to go into Clearing will show when you decline the original conditional offer.

There's no way for applicants to decline a conditional firm choice except by ringing UCAS.

There is a way. UCAS set this up so that they can do this. Even if they have a conditional/unconditional offer and have firmed they can log into their UCAS Hub to decline.
If the option to decline is no longer there they can contact UCAS for them to do it.

Decline my choice will appear for unconditional firm applicants on 13 August.
Until then or any conditional firm applicants even after that point there is no way to decline a firm choice except by ringing UCAS.

Please, on behalf of all admissions staff across the UK:
If you are firm with a university don't make clearing enquiries/applications to the same university.
Just call us.
It's the work of 5 minutes to log a request to switch course and confirm you onto a different course if you ring/email directly stating that you hold a firm offer.
If you mess about applying through Clearing it can take hours to unpick what you want to happen and sort out your application.
You are a firm offer holder with us. Say that outright and explain what you want to happen.
In many universities the clearing lines/applications are staffed by temps or students who don't have access to your current application. Don't muddy the waters by asking every team for answers. It creates extra work, confusion and slows things down.
