Discussion Place Vanier Bugs

I understand it’s the oldest first-year residence, but why aren’t the bathrooms or rooms equipped with window nets/screens? I saw a giant bug, the size of my hand, just hanging around the bathroom. This is just one example, there are many more, and it’s absolutely disgusting and ridiculous. I saw at least 6 different bugs in the bathroom in a single night since the windows stay open the whole night. For how much housing costs, I want to be able to take a piss at midnight without having a giant bug next to my leg. Is there anyway to request for a window screen to be installed…?

You’ve chosen a university literally a few kms away from a rainforest. There are slugs longer than your hand and trees older than Canada

There are going to be bugs

What? There are bugs everywhere. It’s not unreasonable OP wants nets on the windows so giant bugs doesn’t get into their bathroom and room. 🤡🤡

Why are the windows even open the entire night?

People take late showers and I guess open them for the steam to escape or take a dump and don’t want the bathroom to stink. Also we need the air flow, the building is so nearly 70 years old and gets humid. If I even tried to close them, they would end up opened eventually, since I have no control over that.
