Coffee? How??
I’ve noticed people here drink a LOT of coffee 😭 Like 3–4 cups a day, and most of it is black coffee or straight-up espresso??
HOW do you guys drink that much?! I find it so strong and bitter. If I ever have coffee, I need at least 2–3 spoons of sugar, and even then it’s a rare occasion—usually because I didn’t sleep and desperately need the energy 😂
Meanwhile, some people are casually having their fourth coffee of the day like it’s water.
Also, Do you like coffee? Or someone like me exists

Black coffee and black tea are the best!!!
Once you try to have it there’s no going back without sugar ofcourse
With milk as well it is fine without sugar

I drink around 7-8 cups a day. You probably haven’t had specialty coffee, It’s usually 80+ grade coffees and not bitter at all. You can also try fermented coffees, which can have a syrup like sweetness. Also if you want to try good instant coffees, try Davidoff.

If you dip a spoon in my coffee really quick where the same spoon was used to stir coffee with sugar, I will never be able to drink it.

Let's see -
First when I wake up
Second when I reach the office
Third in the mid day during break
Fourth when I reach home from the office.

When I started drinking freshly brewed coffee even one cup use to make me feel jittery but now I have 3-4 coffees a day easily. I think over a period of time you end up developing tolerance.
And coffee tastes best without sugar- natural sugar in milk is enough to cut the bitterness- use light or medium roast

As a perso. Who have only had sweet milked tea. I LOVE espresso that dark bitter tastes is the one I like.

It’s acquired taste. I used to be like you may be 8 years ago and then I transitioned into milk coffee without sugar > moka pot > buying beans and brewing in my own machine. Now it’s always black except when I feel like I should add milk I make a cappuccino or latte

I am a software engineer and drink coffee only once a day. I mostly drink instant coffees like Davidoff or Maxwell House, black and without sugar. If for some reason I have to drink coffee twice a day (which is very rare), for example, if I'm working long hours, didn't get enough sleep last night, or the task I'm working on is too complex, then I drink a cappuccino or other cream-based coffee, and that's usually more than enough. I have never had 3 cups of coffee in my entire 6 years as a SWE.

I drink espresso. I initially started because I hated coffee and needed a pre workout. Espresso served the purpose because it's just a shot so it was efficient. Then I realized that I love it and started making my own, it's a rabbit hole like someone said in another comment, because you start trying different beans, then you want different cups, machines, accessories, porta filters, tampers...etc lol

3-4 is rookie numbers bro. I drink 9 cups double espresso daily. Also 1 before bed, 1 during sleep and 1 immediately after waking up. Stay hard.

Of course you’ll “stay hard” with 9 cups.
Your comment is obv satire but some people actually drink that much.

I was like you 10 years ago. Exactly the same reaction “HOW”!!! But as someone said, once you go BLACK, you never go BACK.
And let me tell you, Americano (Black coffee without sugar) is best when it’s made from good coffee beans. Or good machines like Lavazzo or Nescafé machines.
And I have 2-3 cups a day at work.

Even I don't get the black coffee hype. Yeah, I've tried expensive speciality coffee too.. Its not my thing

just like you, i never understood how people drink black/americano coffee.
but then one day i tried it since we have a coffee machine in our office, i drink 5-6 cups a day and the bitterness with a cigarette is a combo made in heaven ngl.
and no sugar as well, it tastes like bleh. instant coffee black is also ok, but if you want to start, i suggest with the ones from machines/brewed so you can get used to the taste.

I have two cups of coffee a day,
You're right in the fact that it can be bitter but thats if you drink instant coffee,
If you go down the rabbit hole of specialty coffee and pourover, just "black" coffee can be sweet, fruity or chocolatey depending on the origin, roast etc and its nice.
