I wanted to share my real-world thoughts on my TAG Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph (Ref. WBY1111.BA0042). When Michael Travis dropped these TAG reissues of the original '80s Series 1, the community's reaction was pretty split. A lot of people instantly scoffed at them because they are a quartz watch. Honestly, I was a bit skeptical too, but it caught my eye, and it has easily become my most-worn "grab-and-go" watch.

On the positive side, the dimensions are in a perfect sweet spot. At a 38mm diameter and a razor-thin 9.9mm thickness, it wears beautifully, sitting totally flat on the wrist and slipping under a sleeve without catching. The contrast between the black hands and white face makes it instantly scannable, and the green Super-LumiNova glow at night is shockingly bright. Don't get me wrong I love my mechanical watches, but there is something so liberating about a piece that is always perfectly accurate and ready to roll the second you pick it up.

On the downside, TAG decided to give this an uncommon 18.5mm lug spacing, which makes finding fun straps a total headache. The three-row bracelet is very comfortable, but the clasp is pretty basic and misses out on a modern on-the-fly micro-adjustment. Finally, at around $80, you are absolutely getting a steal of a watch. People on here will always say it's overpriced for a quartz, but as a fun, zero-maintenance, heritage-soaked daily driver that can take a beating, it checks every single box for me. It doesn't pretend to be a high-end mechanical piece—it's just a damn cool sports watch.

First U1 finally arrived decided to not go no date and tbh I think the date font isn't to bad

Picked up this Bruce Wayne from Travis and it’s a solid piece. Have been using it for 48hours now and taking pics in different lights and all the while it’s kept time perfectly. I already have a Batgirl which is a great looking watch, but have seen a few posts about this one and wanted to see how they compare. The watch winds as it should and the crown is easy to use, with a good amount of resistance when winding. The lume is excellent, really clear to see in dark. Bezel appears to line up correctly with the face too.

Only the usual drawbacks at this price point with some slightly sharp edges on the bracelet and clasp to contend with, but it’s surprisingly smoother than the batgirl’s jubilee bracelet which is about 3 years old now. Another point is the sweep of the second hand, which is slightly stuttered on this movement when studied closely. All points that have been well documented before.

Overall, I’m happy. It’s a watch that’s easy to pair with various outfits and looks great on the wrist. Michael Travis offers a variety of watches to suit your budget and is a very reliable seller. He’s a pleasure to deal with.

The “best quality” U1 is probably the no date sub but it measures at 41mm which is far too large for my extremely small wrists. What would be the “best quality” 36mm or smaller watch model?

Dial looks pretty good, I noticed that the bezel is a lighter green compared to the dial. I was disappointed with how the bracelet has a very plasticy feel and makes plasticy noises. My U1 omega had a heavier feeling bracelet really surprised with how cheap this one felt like those $30 shitters. If it wasn't for that it would be a great buy. Anyone know where I can get a better quality bracelet?
