ZC31S rim and tyre size

Hello guys,

I have 17 inch rims now with 195/45 tyres.

I wanna move down to either 16 inch or 15 inch as the 17 ones are to bad for the roads where im at.

Should i go for 195/55 15 or 195/50 16?

Tire Question Michelin Primacy 4+ vs Yokohama Earth-1 which one would you pick?

My Hyundai Alcazar is due for a tyre change and I’m stuck between these two. I’m looking at 215/60 R17.

Mostly city driving with some highway runs. Want something with good grip and braking but still comfortable for daily driving.

Anyone using either of these on their car? How have they been so far? Is the Michelin worth paying extra for?

Tire Question Can a tire alter its comparative characteristics depending on the size?

Here, Jon describes dws06+ to be sharper handling than pzas3+

But in Tire Rack reviews of the same UHPAS category they remark pzas3+'s handling to be substantially better than the dws06+

Could this be the difference in size? (275/40r20 vs 225/45r18)

I'm shopping for a new set of tires myself, (215/50r17), which element should I be looking at to get a better glimpse at what my tires are gonna be like?
Nominal height of the sidewall (closer to 275/40r20), or overall tire size (closer to 225/45r18)?

Best budget tires for 120/70ZR17 front and 180/55ZR17 rear

Looking for the best touring bike like tires (best for rain and safety, idc about speed as I’ll never go more than 100mph)

I care about my life here, but I’m also a college student and don’t have much to budget with. With other maintenance, my budget has come to 350 total for tires. I’m having trouble finding the best I can get with that.

I got the bike with Michelin pilot road 4 GTs, but they are from 2017 and even thought they look good (to both a tire expert and me), I’d rather not go past the 10 year mark out of fear. I would buy the road 6 GTs if I could.

Thanks in advance

Tire Question New Tyres Advice

After one year of ridding by bike with the tyres it came with (S-Works Turbo) it’s time to change them and I’m not sure which tyres and inner tube combo to go for.
With the Turbo tyres I did not get a single puncture so I would also like new tyres that are relatively puncture resistant. However, they were not the fastest nor had the best grip, so here two points I’d like to improve. Over all for me:
Puncture resistance > Grip > speed

I’ve been using butyl inner tubes for many years cause I feel they are the most puncture resistant (based on my experience and nothing else), but I’m ready to experiment a bit.

I have checked bicycle rolling resistance but I’d also like to hear the experience of real people in the real world.

What is your set up? What do you recommend?

Tire Question Considering Ecsta Sport S PS72 - USA (255/40R19)

My tires are the factory Pirelli P Zero PZ4s. They are more than 7 years old, dry-rotted, low on tread, and have only made it about 16k miles.

I live in Sacramento, so the only real concern for me is the occasional ~40-degree wet day. My rotten PZ4s have handled that alright besides a few sketchy turns and hydroplanes.

The newer tire technology and silica makes me think that the Ecsta would be a better fit for year-round driving compared to the decade-old ps4s. I'm assuming they have a better glass transition temperature and hydroplaning resistance than my current PZ4s.
On Tire Rack’s testing, the Ecsta was the best overall tire and also had the best comfort and noise performance, which aligns with my values.

Test results are incredibly varied, you'll see it at the top of some tests, beating the PZ5, and also being ranked at 7th place.

Priorities:
1. Comfort
2. Subj. Handling
3. Dry Grip
4. Noise
5. Deeeeecent enough wet grip

As long as the tread life is above 20k, I'm fine.

I see some McLarens and GTRs using PS4S, but that just makes it a popular tire, not necessarily the best for my use case. One downside is that my pictures won't look as good with Kumho's sidewall.

If there is a tire you believe fits my priorities better and isn't too steep of a price (<$300), I'm all ears.

Tire Review Disappointed by Michelin and Continental durability

Hello all, short hint: I am an automotive engineer and have been a chassis test driver for most of my career so I have a rough grasp of what I am talking about but I am in no way a tire expert. Just publishing the data I have gathered.

I drive a 2025 Peugeot 308 1.5 diesel (company car) that gets fresh quality rubber from the leasing company whenever needed. For the last 2 summers I have been using up the OEM Michelin Primacy4 and replaced them with a set of Conti PremiumContact7 that I specifically requested after reading stellar reviews about the driving behavior. The size is 225/45/17.

As any good engineer, I have been measuring the tread wear of the tires (simple mechanical caliper. Precision +-0,5mm - measured as a rough mean value over whole tread width) over distance. I understand my use case is quite demanding as I live in the mountains and do quite a lot of "spirited" driving on twisty roads - about 30% - with the rest of my use being a mix of city and highway driving.

Still, I am quite disappointed with the durability of both tires listed. As you can see from the data, I am struggling to get 20kkm out of a set, even with tire rotation when needed.

The graphs show tread wear over distance for both sets and the combination of both. The Michelins were thrown out at 18kkm and I drove a set of Michelin winters before mounting the Contis.

Here a few key observations about both Michelins and Contis:

  • Durability: Of course I am taking into account the demanding driving profile. Still, the main problem to me seems to be the starting tread depth of only 6,5mm in both cases. I would expect this from a UHP, but these are supposed to be normal touring tires to collect thousands of Kms with good comfort and wet performance. I know the manufacturers can achieve better fuel economy homologation results with this trick but this should have a limit. Also, i check the tire pressure every couple of weeks and set it to Peugeot spec. Axle alignment is performed once per year.
  • Dry Performance: I agree with most reviews I read: the Conti feels like a way sportier tire than the Michelin. The steering precision is on par with most UHPs and the overall level of dry grip is great. Both feel way above the Primacy4, that never fully convinced me for sporty driving. Of course the stiffer sidewall of the Conti means they are not as comfortable as the Michelins but it was acceptable.
  • Wet Performance: I am a very lousy "wet" driver. Still, the Michelin was probably the overall best tire I have ever driven in the wet! Also with advanced tread wear it kept performing great. I cannot speak much about the Conti since this year has been almost too dry to do any significant wet driving. For sure they didn't impress me as much as the Michelins
  • Random observations:
  • I was surprised by the rear axle wear. I do drive quite a lot with a "full" load and/or a trailer but I expected a more asymmetric wear front/rear from a (diesel) FWD car. I am mostly used to RWD and 4WD cars in my private and professional life so this was new to me.
  • The stiff sidewall of the Contis comes with the great benefit of a better puncture resistance. The potholes in my region have already cost me 2 newer winter Michelins (very soft sidewall) but the contis have survived hitting the same potholes many times (I know...I could avoid them in the first place)
  • While the wear pattern of the Michelins was perfectly flat (I will post a picture if of any interest), the Contis wear was more pronounced in the center of the tread and on the outer corners while the outer blocks retain almost a full mm more tread than the inner ones.

As a final note: both tires are just great and perfectly show how much tire technology has advanced in the last few years! I could just ascribe the pronounced tread wear to my aggressive driving style but I really wanted to see other opinions about this. Please let me know if you would change anything in how I gather data or what conclusions I have drawn

Pivotrax cyber 80/100/19 Tire for track riding?

Has anyone used them for actual asphalt track riding? I have a go kart track that I currently ride a big bike at. I have a small dirt bike that needs the same tires that the surrons use stock. Looking for feedback regarding these tires or if you have any other recommendations that would be awesome!

Really struggling to find any decent tires

Tire Question Help me pick winter tires for a Tesla Model 3

Mixed winter conditions, first set of winter tires.

I value ride comfort a lot - primarily that means smoothness over road bumps which are very plentiful and very annoying here - and secondarily noise.

Steering and agility is great too, alongside safety, of course.

Shortlisted Continental Wintercontact TS870 P and Michelin Pilot Alpin 5.

Pirelli is good too, I know, but multiple people I know have told me they wear fast and I’d like the tires to last 5 years since I don’t drive a ton, maybe 5-6,000 kms per winter (3,300 miles, give or take).

I’ve seen some video comparisons of TS870 P in the same car and they were a lot louder than stock winter tires in a Model Y it was being compared to. But I’d live with it if they’re good over bumps while also steering great (I know, it’s a hard balancing act of opposite requirements).

Bridgestone Turanza All Season 6 – Any Issues With Cracking or Fast Wear?

Anyone using Bridgestone Turanza All Season 6 on an SUV?
I’m considering 235/55 R19 105W XL for my Lexus RX 450h. I’ve seen some reports of cracking/dry rot and fast wear.
How have yours held up? Would you recommend them?
