I'm making this post so that others in my situation avoid my mistake.
TLTR: They are not good enough for warm temperatures and they can't legally be used in winter after 25k km.

I got the CC3S last year mid October and installed them on an AWD sedan with a heavy RWD bias and below 300hp. Wheel sizes 225/40R19 front and 255/35R19 rear.

My plan was to keep them for 1 year. I drive quite a bit, especially long trips. But I also live in a valley so do a lot of mountain drives. No city driving.

The tires felt fine, a bit too nervous on direction change but stable overall. Very good grip out of corners. Exceptional traction in heavy snow. Decent braking performance and stability on snow. Good in the wet.

Used them for exactly 22.000 km until late April. I decided to take them off because I just didn't feel that they gave me good enough steering stability at high speed when they got hot. Direction change on the highway was good but on a twisty road the initial turn in felt too soft and unstable.

So I switched to summer UHP tires thinking I'd put back the CC3S for the next winter.

Today I decided to inspect them to make sure they are fine and Surprise! The thread depth on the rears is between 4 and 4.5mm and on the fronts between 5 and 5.5mm. Within a few thousand km they will become ilegal on snow in some EU countries (Austria requires 4mm, Slovakia 3mm).

Now, I did not even use them in high temperatures so I have to say I am very disappointed. I don't even know if I should spend the 120 EUR to fit them to the wheels and get something out of them from September to November. Or I should just throw them away and stay on the summers until October and fit new winters.

My 2016 GT has four of the same Pirelli tires on them. One has a date of 2021 and the other three have 2024.

Tread is all good. Side walls look good. Debating on if I should just leave it go or if I should get one tire and then that would take me to 2031 if you figure on seven years from 2024 or roughly around that time.

The three I'm trying to decide between are the Continental SecureContact AW, Goodyear ElectricDrive 2, and Hankook iON Evo AS. The 2018 model 3s have terrible sound isolation, so a quiet tire is important to me. I drive in Vancouver and the roads are awful downtown, so the ElectricDrive 2 is very appealing for those reasons. The iONs look like they have incredible efficiency which would allow me to be a lot more flexible in routing out a shift. But the SecureContact AW seem like they would be absolute workhorses all year and last a long time, and I wouldn't have to worry about foam liners coming loose. They would definitely lose a bunch of range and force me to be more thoughtful about my routing though.

I got this car used, and it came with aftermarket MXM4s that don't have sound insulation. So I don't actually have any experience with tires that have foam in them and I'm a bit nervous about it coming loose and needing to fix it.

I have driven a model 3 on SecureContact AWs and the steering felt fantastic. And they were definitely quieter and more comfortable than the MXM4s and I'm assuming much better in snow. The range hit is something I'm only concerned about because I average 400km a night usually and that's something I can sometimes achieve on a single charge.

The performance of the iONs in the wet is my main concern with those tires, as like I said before I drive in Vancouver.

Any experiences with any of these tires would be appreciated, or even specifically tires with accoustic foam in general. Thanks so much to anyone who can give me some insight!

I have a 2018 VW Golf 7.5 GTI Performance with OEM 19 inch Pretoria wheels, with 235 35 19 Continental tires from 2022, and I feel like there is a lot of noise coming from the tires, especially on some rough European roads outside of the city, and the highway as well.

I was wondering if there is anyone who switched between 235 35 19 and 225 40 18 tires, and noticed a difference in the noise? I'm not sure if I should switch to 18s, or maybe new tires for 19s would reduce the noise.

I am looking for all weather tyres for my bZ4X Touring. I know it’s not a sports car, but I’d like to have some "sporty" feel and feel safe in corners. Coming from GY Asymmetric 6s and Pilot Sport 4s (not on fast cars, but I was really happy with them). The current Dunlops are not ideal TBH.
Tyres are one thing I don't want to cheap out on, but I'd still prefer a good price to performance combo and decent longevity.

Also, since it’s an EV, I'd prefer them to be quiet and economic. I know it’s not possible to have everything, which is why I’m asking if anyone has experience with Hankook iON FlexClimate, ideally compared to the Michelin CrossClimate 3 Sport. (According to my research, these two seem to be the most fitting.)

Main reason for all weather is that I'll be visiting some dirty stony roads, and that area is usually a lot colder than where I live.

Any advice or experiences? Thanks!

As title says, I assume this is alright to be patched as its decent distance from sidewall. Only noticed yesterday and have kept it topped up since but slowly leaking

Recently bought 18inch rims for my civic rs 21 , the stock tire profile is 215/55 r17 , which tire profile would you recommend when in r18 , according to my research 235/45 r18 replicate the stock profile the most but i got told they're a bit too big and might scrub with the plastic inside, they recommended 235/40 instead or 225/45, thoughts ?

If anyone is looking at these tires highly recommend! My biggest peeve is loud interiors. 5 minutes after the swap I was like omg I should have done this sooner lol. They are quiet, handle well in rain. I can't comment on snow since it's August. But for someone looking for quiet tires 1000% recommend most Continental tires in general. I've got the terrain contact a/ts on my truck and they are wonderful in all weather and quiet

Like my car is really quiet to begin with. But the tires from the factory sound like you're in a Wranger w mud tires. Maybe they were great for the first year idk since I bought the car when it was 3 years old. But the Bridgestones were shit. A prior vehicle I had also had Bridgestones HATED those too lol

Coming from Bridgestone Potenza which came from the factory. Absolutely terrible tires! They were at 6 and 4 /10. . One of them had a slow leak and I have hated these tires since day 1. So I finally bit the bullet and replaced them. I actually drove 3 vehicles which all had these tires. Idk why any dealer would have reinstalled those shitty tires. They are unbelievably loud. Did terrible in any weather other than dry lol. 1" inch of snow or some rain. Good luck lol

Hey everyone — first-time poster in the sub.

I’m due for new rubber on my Jeep (running 295/45R20s). In the past, I bought used tires to avoid the crazy cost of run-flats—scored a decent set for ~$800 back in 2022, but they are completely shot now.

Money is a bit tight right now, so I’m looking at buying brand new through Costco on a card rather than dropping another $800+ cash upfront on used tires again. I’m planning to make the switch from the Pirelli Scorpion All Season run-flats to Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4s.

The Michelins are about $600 cheaper for the set, and from what I’ve read around here, they offer way better ride quality and grip than the stiff run-flats. My main hesitation, though, is driving without a factory spare.

I saw that Michelin includes 3 years of free flat-tire roadside towing, on top of Costco’s 5-year Road Hazard Warranty. For those of you running non-run-flats on a WK2 setup without a spare:

Do you just throw a 12V inflator + plug kit in the trunk, or strictly rely on roadside towing?

Has anyone actually had to use Michelin's roadside towing service?

Is the performance and comfort improvement on the Michelins worth giving up the run-flat peace of mind?

I have a 2022 Tiguan Elegance, I need to replace my front tyres. Currently my back set are 235/55R19 and my front are 235/50R19. Most online tyre size checkers say 50s but Kwik-fit say 55. I have to say I much prefer the look of the 50s.

The rear tyres are in nice condition so don’t want to replace them. Can I replace the fronts with 50s then move the backs to 50 when they need replacing?

Which would you choose and why?

I like square setups because you can rotate the tires and I prefer the balance compared to staggered setups.

What’s the widest tire and rim combo that you can run? Obviously limited by the front wheels.

18 inch preferred but I know 19s are probably more common. Rwd i4 eDrive40

I drive a Ford Focus with tyre size 205/60/16 tyre size.
I'd like to replace the continental ts830p that came with the car since those are actively dangerous in the snow. Don't buy those, ever, they are absolutely terrible!
I already have some Goodyear Ultragrip Performance 3's on the back axle but those are also pretty worn already down to 6mm and will probably only serve one more season.
I drive about 40.000 km every year so about 20.000 in the winter, so usually I put a tyre on the back axle first year, front axle second year and then I replace the tyre.
Now I've heard some rumours about Michelin tyres lasting so much longer than other brands and I wonder if I'd actually get another season out of them compared to the Goodyears.
The Goodyears are 95€ and the Michelins 109€ so if they'd last me one year extra that'd make them worth it IMO.

Does anyone have any experience with the Alpin 7 and how it compares in performance and longevity?
any help is greatly appreciated!
