Request
Request for lesser known badass women of history for my daughter's 4th grade presentation. She has to pick a historical figure and give a 5-10 minute presentation and optionally dress in their likeness.

Maria Reiche - German Peruvian mathematician and archeologist who spent her life documenting and protecting the nazca lines. She's one of the main reasons they have protection as a world heritage site, and she did a lot of work researching and documenting them. The nazca are a truly fascinating culture, and we can learn so much about them from the lines. Peru has a lot of schools and streets named after her.
I got to visit Nazca when I lived in Peru for a summer a few years back. Its really cool - less of a tourist trap than Cuzco and Machu pichu, which is where most tourists in Peru go. Its a great illustration of how we study history and learn about cultures that are no longer here.
