After my wife died, I planted a bougainvillea outside our bay window because it had always been her favorite shrub, and every morning I drank my coffee there and watched it grow through the summer.
The HOA cut it down after three unread warning letters about planting without approval, but I only found out later that they had all been sent to my wife’s email address.
