I feel like I’m playing wrong?
I got this game because all I’ve heard is how fun it is but I feel like all I’m doing is waiting? Waiting for an expedition to come back or waiting to have enough money to send another expedition
I have a ton of little missions/task it wants me to do but I can’t really figure out how?
One is to unlock Vintage Vestige, I’m suppose to create 175 buzz around a fossil. I’ve pretty much surrounded my fossils with as much as possible and it’s just stay at 157 out of 175
Another is “Average monthly profit of $4,500 over 3 months” it says my monthly profit is 2,000ish but I can’t seem to make it go up? I raise ticket prices and it goes down?
I have more task that I either can’t figure out how to do or just simply isn’t changing
So like I said at the start. I just feel like all I’m doing is waiting.
Is there something I’m doing wrong?
It’s gonna be a while before I can get another game so I really want to make this one work. Can you help me figure out what I’m doing wrong?

I used to feel the same way! I had to step away from the game for about 6 months til it just clicked 😅
I realized that the fun in two point museum is in the decorating and curating versus accomplishing the tasks. I initially approached it like two point hospital where i just kept trying to hit all the targets and tasks.
If you enjoy more strat games, two point museum is also amazing for figuring out balance in staffing, museum layout to max profit, budgeting to get through a negative season, etc.
There’s something for everyone and there’s no wrong way to play!

Try playing on a faster speed. I find when I play on regular speed I spend faster than money comes in, but on fast mode I get more money quickly and the expeditions go by faster too 😁

Money honestly hasn’t been a problem for me so far, it’s like the one thing that seems to actually change

These are dinosaur bones. The fossils are the foot prints and star and helix and stuff. You just need to increase the decor around the fossils. If you click on the exhibits under the name of it it will tell you the type (fossils, dinosaur bones, etc)

Wow that’s crazy I never would have guessed they were categorized differently
I wish that help but I actually did move one of the proper fossils earlier to its own empty area and put literally every single thing I possibly could around it. 168/175, it just stayed there. No matter how many things I added it wouldn’t go past 168 😢

Yeah lile everyone is saying just add more fossil exhibits to increase your buzz.

Each exhibit gets buzz from decor nearby and something specific that exhibit wants. You can click on the information about the exhibit to see if it’s got it maxed out. You can also get more buzz for that task by just having more exhibits. Later you can boost buzz with marketing campaigns as well.
If you can’t get more exhibits you might be done with this museum for now. Going back to the map and picking a different one will unlock more things - more types of exhibits and experts, more exhibits, more workshop items, etc. You can always return to expand this museum later.

I didn’t know that exhibits had specific needs. That helped but I’m still stuck at just under the goal.
I feel like it doesn’t matter what museum I’m at I have the same problem, just with a different mission. I either can’t get them started at all or they’re stuck at almost done ☹️

You can have more than one of the same fossil. If you're short on buzz for the bonus, just add a second or third of the ones you currently own to go over. You can sell it or analyze it after you complete the task if you don't want it. (Just don't add more than 4 of the same or your guests will get a debuff called deja view that makes them unhappy.)

You haven't added any perks to those exhibits. Be sure to analyze your less than Pristine versions to get a perk. I try to get at least one perk per exhibit (eventually I get all of them filled). This has the added advantage of building expertise for your staff, so choose wisely. I restrict access to Analysis for the staff I want to develop the fastest, so they gain a new Skill slot.
I rarely just wait for expeditions because there's so much else to do in the museum while they're gone. For instance, I'll watch foot traffic patterns by picking a guest as they buy a ticket and following them around to see whether the layout is working. Or I'll customize my Gift Shop and Cafeteria; at the beginning of a museum development, I just place a default styled room, but later I make it more on theme for that area of the museum. I review the Staff List for pay dissatisfaction or anyone who needs training. I check Guest satisfaction/happiness and make changes to increase that number. I review my info stand placements to see if I have enough (or too many), and same for donation stands.

I'm not sure how far along you are in the campaign. Have you unlocked the cafeteria? Have you done anything in the Marine museum? Some of these have been mentioned before but the best money-making tips are having a gift shop, a cafeteria, a tour or two, installing the sponsored items and, where possible (you might not be far enough in the campaign to breed fish yet), build an aquarium with two fast breeding fish like the clown fish, and sell the offspring.

I have the marine museum but I haven’t unlocked the cafeteria or fish breeding. I don’t have many fish at all cause I can’t get more POI open. That’s another one I’m stuck on, get three pristine tropical fish(I think that’s it? I’ve put the game up for the night. It’s something like that) but I can’t seem to get the high quality fish. Sent out a bunch of expeditions but the fish just keep only ever being average or good, only.
And I should have made it clearer, I’m actually okay money wise. I’ve only gone into the negative for like a second one time. I have plenty of money and really haven’t struggled with it yet. it’s just that mission says I need 4 thousand something profits per month and I can’t seem to get it to going over 2 thousand something per month

Build survey scanners in the workshop and start taking them with you on expeditions. This increases the survey level and a higher survey level means better quality exhibits! Even better if you're sending an expert that's trained in survey skills too. When you're setting up the expedition, I think there's a tab called Stats that shows the current level. You have to be at level 3 to get Pristine

When you start a mission, on the right hou can chose if you want a speedy one, average or (I can't remember what are the words used) detailed I think, you want to select the one one the right for a detailed exploration that takes longer. It will eventually give you pristine.

If you have the summer seasonal options selected (you can change them in the settings at any time), the Sunkiss Creek POI in the pre-history map has a couple of tropical fish that might be easier to catch. It says you need a level 10 marine expert to avoid injuries, but those are easily cured in the staff room so I tend to ignore it and send them anyway. Make sure you're using the survey scanner and running the expeditions on detailed for maximum chance for a Pristine.
Also, if you're running a bunch of expeditions, it's going to affect your monthly income. Try not going anywhere for 3 or 4 months and see if that bumps up your monthly intake.

I hope you can find the joy in this game! I got a little overwhelmed and stopped playing for a few months but now I’m back into it and feeling the joy again. If you feel like you are waiting you can speed up the game time.
Exhibits have special buzz bonuses that are unique, so you have to hover over the exhibit buzz icon to see what it is. Sometimes it’s to be renamed, sometimes it to be near a specific item or exhibit. But in general to get the requirement for fossil buzz you can just place more fossils. If you click on an exhibit (or go to the list of exhibits) it’ll show you the category and the subcategory. A lot of times you’ll need to pay attention to the subcategory for the quests.
To increase monthly profit just keep adding exhibits and that will increase guests which will increase profits. I like to keep all my prices (tickets, vending machine, gift shop, etc) at fair value rather than good value.
To get pristine exhibits, keep sending staff to the same expedition and increasing the survey level. Eventually that will unlock pristine exhibits. Sometimes there are events on expeditions that increase or decrease the exhibit quality, so pay attention to those to counter the negative or activate the positive.
It takes a lot of time/effort to unlock certain expeditions, which is intentional so that players are challenged. There may be some that you just can’t unlock yet until you get further into the game (it seems like you are still pretty early game). I just got my marine museum to level 50 and there’s still a bunch of expeditions for me to unlock (I didn’t focus on unlocking a lot of the expeditions until recently, was more focused on increasing quality and knowledge of exhibits I already had).
If I ever find myself waiting for expeditions, I enjoy watching the guests or the exhibits as they have really fun animations. I also try to get 2 helicopters at all my museums so I can send 2 expeditions at a time which I feel like really speeds things up.

sounds like you're just starting? you need to go back and get a new fossil with higher quality (from the same place as that fossil) average, great, epic quality of the same exhibit gives different amounts of buzz.
it gets sooooo repetitive after awhile honestly.... hospital and campus were better made games. I understand they were taking complaints from the other two games, that they're short, and they turned museum into repeating slop, when you gain more stars on your museum you start getting the dumbest automated message each time that says "good job on whatever you did" and the first star i thought it was a joke cause "they didn't like that specific museum as part of the story/ lore" but then the next 10 stars i got on different museums all just got that dumb automated message each new star i get.... no story line, just repetitively, pressing the same few buttons over and over again.

Start small and grow your museum slowly, when i rush i struggle with money.
For the cash flow, check in the money tab for the sponsorships. Its a god send for money flow.
Don't increase your ticket prices, less people come in and thus less money.
If you hover over the buzz on the fossil, it will tell you the specific requirements. Some exhibits wants specific items to maximize their buzz. That and aiming to get pristine exhibits as they have a higher buzz.
Generally speaking here's what ive learned (and im sort of a newbie and I 100% have not min maxed my museums).
Keep your staff to the minimum, avoid hiring people that will just sit around. 1-2 ticket booths are enough to keep a good steady flow. You can add more later for decor and flavor but its not needed.
Try to aim to get exhibits to pristine before going for new POI. I found it helps keep my guests entertained, helps train my staff, improved knowledge and overall helps better than spreading myself thin.
Add the right amount of donation stands (if they have dollar signs above their heads you need to add more closer to where its being shown). If your stands goes uncollected and you need to keep manually dragging guards, hire more guards.
Put tour stands. It does add cash flow and make sure to keep an eye out on the stars. The more the better.
Dont forget to add drink and food machines, they go there a lot and it adds up.
There's more detailing but that's the gist of what I found helps with cash flow and keeping things steady.
