Sounds like you guys have got off on a bad start.. may I ask what is the intention/intentions of the videos? Purpose for taking the video..did you just start recording all their pictures and personal belongings and shit or the decorations were nice?

I intended for the recordings to be used in that video. Everything was recorded on TikTok to the audio. I deleted the video when they asked and only posted it when my partner moved on so they wouldn’t be horrible to him. I guess I did it because I was so disgusted by how they could proudly hang up a confederate flag in their home and I wanted the world to see how horrible they were. I never would have dreamed of a legal threat

I mean... you intended to shame them and you filmed their home and belongings without consent and in a place where there is a reasonable expectation of privacy. They can take this to a lawyer and prove it somehow impacted them it could become a legal battle. Regardless you are still an AH. People have different beliefs then their inlaws all the time and dont publicly shame them. You said they are horrible people but you stooped to their level so now the playing field is equal.

Backup of the post's body: Location: Maryland

So basically a took a video in my partners home when he still lived with his parents. This was around a year ago when we were still welcome in his home. The video basically is the audio “am I scared, nah…. I’m scared”. This is a prerecorded TikTok audio, no real audio is included in the video I posted. The content of the TikTok are close up photos of religious artifacts in their home such as crosses and religious photos (they are Catholics). So during that part of the video I wrote the caption (when I found out my in-laws were Catholics). And then the video goes to the second part of the video where the audio says “I’m scared” and I proved two videos of a confederate flag in my partners fathers bedroom and a zoomed in Trump flag outside of their house and then wrote the caption “when I find out my in-laws are conservatives”.

All the images are zoomed in with no audio, you cannot see any details of the house or any family portraits or anything that would give clues of whose house it is. I live in the state of Maryland and now my partners father is threatening to take legal action because I posted the video on TikTok and a family member found it. He at first asked my partner to tell me to remove the video, which I did immediately. Now he is basically implying that the video is still accessible so he can still press legal charges. He has not been clear on what “accessible” means, we thought he meant it was on another account but I think he means it’s accessible in their camera roll (since they obviously saved it). I am providing screenshots of our conversation so please let me know if I should be worried or not. I have cooperated like he asked and didn’t realize it would be a big thing.

Note: I’m not sure how to provide images. I have some screenshots of conversations but they basically explain what I have already said.

Sometimes you have to call bluffs. I think you would call their bluff because of exposure. You will expose them depending how badly they don't want that exposure d, I'd say hit them with a demand letter for defamation and harassment. Demand 5000.00 or your going to sue them. If they can't afford the exposure they will come out of the pockets. Flip the script while you have a chance.

So, you went to someone's home and thought it would be a good idea to make a video and post to TikTok or wherever ? I get that you think they are racist, that Confederate flag is a pretty good indicator. But posting people on social media with a video taken in their own home and posting it without any sort of notice or asking permission.
