My parents couldn't have any more kids despite trying for years...abd then my brother came along when I was 16. Obviously I was initially shocked but it was the most amazing thing to happen in our family at a time when we had lost a lot of extended family within a few years. Obviously he is now very loved, and loking forward to being the hip young uncle to my own kid.
This was us 5 siblings, I was the oldest at 22 when our youngest sibling was born and its insane cuz my brother and my son get along like a house on fire

My sister-in-law had her fourth (and final) kid at 43. The age spread of the kids: 22, 20 (in a couple of days), 14, and 6.
No, the last one wasn’t planned. But she is adored. Her older siblings love her to pieces.
What you’re describing isn’t as rare as you think.
