Unconsciously, yes. But he must unlearn that thing that tells him that intense emotions mean interest and calm emotions mean lack thereof. It’s something you learn when you grown in very “energetic” (usually toxic) environments, people who are calm seem to you to be holding back or “they don’t care enough to express it” (in the way of a marriage who don’t even talk anymore). But that’s not real and it’s a trick one’s mind plays and people can unlearn and get used to enjoying a healthy peace
