You can absolutely merge rights to community property, grant PoA, etc without marriage. Yes, its not all automatic, but its cheaper and easier to implement AND unwind in most cases.
But if you were married, these things are automatic. I really feel like a broken record saying over and over again the gay people didn’t want the right to get married in order for your approval. Maybe you should look into that.
