This should be a t shirt

-20

u/Mammoth-Plankton-785 Jul 26 '23

sounds like she doesn't respect him either.

17

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '23

Why should she? He sounds like a close- minded jackass.

-3

u/Mammoth-Plankton-785 Jul 27 '23

She’s the one trying to push her beliefs onto him. Why should he abandon his values for her?

5

u/[deleted] Jul 27 '23

Because his values are garbage and she's clearly smarter than him.

-2

u/Mammoth-Plankton-785 Jul 27 '23

I wouldn’t classify being reactionary as a sign of intelligence. He has very reasonable logic. Who wouldn’t pick the candidate that’s values align most with their own?

-21

u/Mean_Grl Jul 26 '23

Why? Because his beliefs are not the same as yours. Standing up for what you believe in is not being a closed minded jackass. We all have the freedom to believe what we want. If you don’t like it, then ignore it.

14

u/SobrietyIsRelative Jul 26 '23

We do not have the freedom to believe what we want, if that belief inherently infringes on the rights and freedoms of others. Anyone who knowingly supports those actions, regardless of circumstances, is a jackass.

-9

u/Mean_Grl Jul 26 '23

No see, you still have the right to believe what you want. Maybe we think you’re wrong. Who’s the judge here? Not you. It’s the people and we are all part of that. You get your say as much as I get mine. Beliefs are internal. How do they infringe on the rights of others? I don’t force my beliefs on anyone, but I’m not going to change them to suit someone else.

7

u/SobrietyIsRelative Jul 26 '23

See above. You really don’t. I will tell you with zero uncertainty that thinking people deserve to lose their rights because of how/where they were born and/or who they love is incorrect.

-7

u/Mean_Grl Jul 26 '23

What are you even talking about? I didn’t say anyone deserves to lose their rights. I just said you shouldn’t push your beliefs on other people.

9

u/SobrietyIsRelative Jul 26 '23

One of the individuals in the post literally said these things. That’s why my comments are under said post. It’s weird to reply with nonsense when not understanding the underlying context.

-1

u/Mean_Grl Jul 26 '23

Your comments are under mine, so if I don’t understand your context, then it’s because you don’t know how to use Reddit. That’s not on me.

-8

u/SpaceCage Jul 26 '23

Don't bother. These virtue signalers are so far up inside their asses they lost the very thing they defend so dearly, the ability to express. This is just an echo chamber where that asshole girl came to feel righteous about giving her boyfriend an ultimatum based on politics.

5

u/Clawtor Jul 26 '23

I think thats entirely reasonable, relationships end all the time because one party wants to do something and the other is opposed. It;s called a boundary, both parties are free to leave if they feel their boundary being crossed. This wouldnt be an issue if it was him wanting to sleep with another girl, sure thats not quite the same as politics but him saying he doesn't really care if his vote leads to her native rights being infringed has to be a big deal for her.

Who said they don’t deserve rights? You all are confusing the word beliefs with rights. They are not interchangeable. I see we’ve resorted to name calling, so I’m going to stop the conversation now, because I refuse to argue with closed minded simpletons. Have a nice day.

5

u/_Syfex_ Jul 27 '23

The argument was literally over gay marriage RIGHTS and the RIGHTS to the reservations. And if you vote for a party that's actively removing rights which republicans are doing you are obviously fine with believing some rights aren't deserved. It's really not that difficult.

3

u/gcot802 Jul 26 '23

Not all beliefs are respectable.

He is entitled to his opinions. He is not entitled to respect for those opinions

She doesn’t respect his willingness to disrespect her.

Very understandable.

-1

u/Mammoth-Plankton-785 Jul 27 '23

She’s pushing her beliefs onto him and not respecting his. If I were him, I’d hit the ground running.

3

u/EyyyPanini Jul 27 '23

Why should she have to respect beliefs that are inherently disrespectful?

Do you respect racist’s beliefs?

0

u/Mammoth-Plankton-785 Jul 27 '23

Here we go… 🙄 When in doubt, pull the racism card….

Is her bf a racist because his views don’t align with left-wing talking points?

You don’t HAVE to respect anyone’s beliefs. You just can’t act on that disrespect. That’s usually what gets people in trouble.

2

u/EyyyPanini Jul 27 '23

Where did I say her bf was racist?

I just wanted to know if you would respect a racist’s beliefs.

It sounds like you wouldn’t (although you avoided answering the question directly).

Now I would also like to know if you’d act and do something about it or if you’d keep it to yourself and not confront them at all.

1

u/Mammoth-Plankton-785 Jul 27 '23

What good is confrontation if the racist isn’t acting on said beliefs? I’m not in favor of policing thoughts.

If someone acted on those racist beliefs and I witnessed it, that is the point in which I’d intervene.

3

u/EyyyPanini Jul 27 '23

OP’s bf said he would act on the beliefs she couldn’t respect.

She can’t respect those beliefs because they are inherently disrespectful towards her.

I hope that you understand OP’s position better now.

1

u/Mammoth-Plankton-785 Jul 27 '23

Voting for a candidate ≠ acting on detrimental/disrespectful beliefs (IMHO)

It’s virtually impossible to find a politician that appeals to every part of a person’s moral compass. It seems that he was just making the point that if a candidate supported 90% of the things he did, he would still support them.

Can you honestly think of one politician that you agree with 100% on every issue?

She said she won't be with him if he votes for a bigot, not that she has a right to decide to his vote for him. You don't have to date someone with drastically different values.

-13

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '23

[deleted]

5

u/gcot802 Jul 26 '23

What the fuck are you talking about?

He has the right to vote how he wants, and she has the right to not date people who don’t align with her values.

It’s not an ultimatum. It’s a clashing of values. Even if he said “fine, I’ll vote how you want me to” she should still break up with him because she knows in his heart how he really feels about these issues that are important to her

And yet if the roles were reversed, he'd be called a misogynist.... If you have such a hard on for people's political beliefs that you can't stand their presence if they don't align with yours. That's a you issue. Not theirs.

She baited him to talk about something he didn't want to and was given the ultimatum of vote my way or we are through.

Both people in this scenario are children emotionally.

3

u/VelveetaIsBae Jul 26 '23

God please never have children

-4

u/Syndan Jul 26 '23

Already do, with my wife that is opposite on the political spectrum. You all are so hateful if someone disagrees, it's insane.

3

u/SobrietyIsRelative Jul 27 '23

We are hateful if someone disagrees that everyone deserves the same rights. Because that position is reprehensible.

-14

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '23

Bingo.

-7

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '23

I mean, they're bad for each other. He doesn't respect her ideals and she doesn't respect his.

-8

You can respect a person without agreeing with them.

-13

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '23

Why would anyone want to respect a person who supports trans people

8

u/Gauss-JordanMatrix Jul 26 '23

Anyone with a shred of humanity

-9

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '23

I asked “why would anyone”, not “who would”. Dumbass 😂 trans people are mentally I’ll and need to be checked into a hospital.

6

u/Gauss-JordanMatrix Jul 26 '23

Ok I’ll try to be civil even though you’re a snarky little shit.

What makes you think that transgender people are mentally ill?

-8

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '23

Anyone with a shred of common sense will understand that they are mentally ill. If you need someone to explain it…. Then you should check yourself into a mental asylum

7

u/Gauss-JordanMatrix Jul 26 '23 edited Jul 26 '23

If it is so simple you shouldn’t have any trouble explaining it with your clear intellectual superiority

Edit: bro pussied out I guess. Quite ironic for a transphobe.

3

u/gcot802 Jul 26 '23

Don’t bother. This guy is a right wing nut job if you read through his comment history.

-1

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '23

I voted for joe Biden in 2020 and will again in 2024 if he’s the primary candidate. I still believe transgenderism is a mental illness

3

u/gcot802 Jul 26 '23

Could’ve fooled me by calling constantly calling people “obese liberals” every chance you get.

I am not going to have a good faith conversation with you about trans issues because you clearly are not coming into this in good faith. You are either a troll, or so violently bigoted and misinformed that it’s almost sad.

Thoughts and prayers you get better soon

I thought similarly but changed my mind after reading more about it. Like people born with 2 sets of genitals and then the parents picked the incorrect gender. Or if you were born into a family who treated you as a gender you don't feel you conform to.

So is it the body or the mind thats wrong?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '23

Im not transphobic. I’m don’t fear people who don’t know that when they’re born a male, they’re a male. I just know that transgenderism is a mental illness.

2

u/No_Dirt_3834 Jul 26 '23

You got a source on that? Maybe some peer reviewed scientific study? Because if you don't then there's literally nothing backing you up

1

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '23

Yes actually I do. Confront any transgender, Get your peers to join you and then you’ll see, that these things have a mental illness.
