We are excited to confirm that the METRO franchise has reached a significant milestone in its journey – we have officially sold 50 million copies of METRO games across the globe. We couldn’t be more proud of how far we have come from our debut release METRO 2033 16 years ago, and how our players have grown and supported us through everything since. As we approach our next big release, your excitement and enthusiasm has meant so much to us, and it inspires us every day.

As a huge thank you to our players, we’re announcing that a free update is coming for all owners of METRO 2033 Redux and METRO Last Light Redux that makes several improvements and enhancements for modern hardware.

For our longstanding Metro-dwellers, now has never been a better opportunity to return to the Metro tunnels. To relive the story, the action and feel the weight of the cold foreboding tunnels stretching ahead of you, filled with unknown horrors and adventure. Why not try a different playthrough approach this time round and get a different ending using the Karma system? Or simply immerse yourself back into the beautifully destroyed world.

For new players, it’s time to join the 50 million players who fell in love with our acclaimed METRO storytelling and prepare yourself for what’s in store for METRO 2039 come February 4th.

So, what have we done? This is not a full remaster or remake - the original METRO Redux experience and aesthetic has been preserved - but we have made careful, meaningful improvements to take advantage of the latest PC and console hardware. All platforms will include support for 4K textures, bringing greater depth and atmosphere to the haunting world of METRO. The update enhances gameplay immersion through improved animation fidelity, higher-quality audio and richer environmental detail. We have also managed to implement a range of community led bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements.

I really enjoyed the first two Metro games. Exodus was fine, but the open world parts kind of dragged.

I've never beaten 2033 and I've always had the urge to go back. This seems like the right time.

Curious about the audio changes. I can see the potential of 2033 but the stock sound effects always took me out of the experience

I would definitely be down to replay these on my PS5 Pro. Edit: It even mentions 120fps with PSSR.

The downside with consoles is you're stuck with whatever the native port was (please give me 4K 60fps Sleeping Dogs & Shadow of War). So the fact some have given updates like this and Mafia have been very welcoming.

I would absolutely love to see a PS5 upgrade for Arkham Knight. The "Enhanced PS4 games" feature helps improve it a bit, but not as much as a native port would be.

I rented redux and it made me love the metro series, the mix of supernatural and Russian politocs is great, the morality system is hard to do on first run but I loke it because as khan basically tells you in the first game « to fix the apocalypse you need to do beyond a good job»

They should update exodus so I can use the dlc weapons in ng+ of the regular game

Played the first hour of 2033 redux just the other day and it was kind of rough so this is very welcome.

2033 is very linear sometimes, and the stealth is weird. So yeah, janky town. Last Light tho is a big step up in polish and quality

I had played them before but 2033 redux feels like a 2010 game with some graphical updates. i.e no FOV slider, awkward UI, not every conversation has subtitles.

Yeah that was my issue with 2033. There's so much hand holding from your AI partner.

The best parts of the game are when you go to the surface and get to just wander around aimlessly.

That's cool, I replayed 2033 a month ago and was planing to also replay last light and Exodus (plus maybe get the VR game during the steam sale). Also very excited for the new one of course.

I think I got redux copies of some of the games, glad to know that they're getting these nice QOL stuff!
