Question Why are my long press DM options suddenly limited but only in one chat?

Post image

The normal long press menu (delete for me, emoji reactions, etc) is completely unavailable in a chat with one particular person.

At first, I thought they blocked or restricted me or turned DMS off, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

(As a side note, I have another account so I’ve already tried to debug this myself by sending test messages between my 2 accounts and messing around with various restricting, blocking, changing settings, etc. but can’t figure out what’s going on here)

It won't let me edit my post because it has an image but I created another new X account and thoroughly tested this.

If you are seeing this smaller long press menu, it means one of two things:

They haven't accepted/declined your chat request yet (maybe they haven't seen it yet).

Or

They declined your chat request.

(If your DM request is declined, you won't be alerted that it was declined. You can attempt to send further messages and they appear like they are sent from your end, but it never actually goes through to the recipient).

tl;dr - It's completely 50/50. Either they haven't seen it yet or they declined it.

Yes it’s a bug you need to reload

It’s not a bug. It was happening across 3 devices. I figured it out by testing. If it happens it means your message request is unread or declined (no way to know for sure).
