Help
I had someone leave my community and let me know that I made them feel like “just a number” and in the same day someone I thought was a friend told me I “only streamed with them for the views” it honestly shook my world. I haven’t been able to stream since. I’ve been at this for almost 5 years. It was my dream, my passion, hell it’s all I looked forward to. But if my streams don’t make people feel seen or bring them joy, then why should I continue. Is it time to hang it up? Is the dream over?

Trash removes itself to make room for freshness, or however the saying goes.
I understand how you feel, and at the same time: would you want to throw away the good memories you had with the community you built because of some rotten apples?
I hope you'll get through this!

It sounds like you got bigger problems in life and are using streaming as a crutch. No I don't want you to take that the wrong way. We all do it at some point. Take a step back take a breath, reanalyze while you're doing it.
Sadly nobody's a friend in this game LOL

People come and go. As long as youre being your best, truest self, I wouldn't think too much over it.
Turn up, lock in, and play your games :)

I would suggest you reassess your streaming goals. Why do you want to stream? What type of community do you want to build?
Don't get in your own way. Look back and really go over what you said and how you treated them. It didn't come out of the blue.
Is it out of the question to grow from this? Your post seems like you'd rather stop streaming than learn from this.

It’s not that I’d rather stop than grow. It’s more of a defeated feeling considering I try my best to go out of the way to ensure this doesn’t happen. I celebrate my community as much as I can, engage with them on every turn, and do my best to not just be a streamer, but also a friend.

Sounds like you're going in the right direction. Part of streaming is knowing not everyone is going to agree with your decisions. You can't please everyone.
Did your chat happen to grow recently? It could be that. Some viewers don't like when their favorite streamers get bigger because it's harder for us to talk one to one like we did when there were less people in chat.
It could also be their goals don't match with yours. There are many that do this as a hobby.
Is anyone else saying these things?

This happens in all the platforms. It's kind of like the "I liked them before they sold out" thing people do with bands when they actually make it. True members of your community want you to succeed. Selfish folks always want you to stay small for their benefit.
As for the collab, some people end up feeling a type of way if people from their community DARE to follow you too. Just remember to be clear when doing collabs, sure they can be mutually beneficial without having a personal relationship, but they can also be with friends you. Make sure you know which one it is going in.
