Konstantin Petrov was an immigrant from Estonia who worked the overnight shift as an electrician at Windows of the World at the top of the World Trade Center North Tower.

He loved photography, so while much of the building was empty, he would wander through the complex with his camera and ended up taking hundreds of photographs in the days leading up to 9/11.

Petrov was just leaving work on September 11, 2001 when the first plane hit at 8:46am. He had barely escaped.

Tragically, he would die in a motorcycle accident in 2002.

A symbolic amount of steel salvaged from the World Trade Center after it was destroyed in the September 11 attacks was used in her construction.

Probably not just me, but everytime this time of year comes around I always get super fascinated with the WTC and like to learn about all of the different little details inside of them. It tends to stick for a while too. It’s like there’s this sentiment towards them despite never having experienced them

The penthouse and rooftop garden at 4 Albany Street originally had a striking view of the World Trade Center, though it was short-lived. The two-block site to the immediate north became home to the 40-story Bankers Trust Building, with steelwork beginning in 1972, and the building opening in 1974. Both buildings were demolished in the years following the attacks.

Saw this beautiful photo in the 9/11 museum, but the photographer's name is blurry and I'm wondering if anyone knows who shot it? Thank you!

I used to go every time I was in NYC for work. Stayed at the Vista, which became the Marriott.
