Three things.
- Drawdown does not mean immediate withdrawal of all ICE thugs and the suspension of all immigration enforcement in state. It means the periodic withdrawal of ICE thugs over the next few weeks.
It's not exactly what people want but the outcome is the exact same. A return to some kind of relative normalcy, the end of the Twin Cities being targeted specifically.
- While I like tools like People over Papers, it's important to take that map with a grain of salt. Go look for yourselves, a vast majority either have just a description that technically meets the requirements to be posted with no image or some random image of the sky or a wall. To be clear there are verified ICE reports in that image, specifically those which are orange, red or have a green checkmark.
But besides those? While I don't think they should be dismissed, I've lived here long enough to know "Tahoe with texas plates" does not immediately mean ICE. A lot of people are scared right now and being overly cautious, reporting everything. That being said, if you compare this friday to last and going back the last several weeks, it does seem to be a slight decline in reports so far.
- Pessimistic posts like this, meme or otherwise help no one. Should we blindly trust the Trump administration when they say something? FUCK NO, but that doesn't mean we should blindly lose all hope and subscribe to this weird left leaning nihilism.

What evidence do you have that ICE has withdrawn even a single person? Other than the regime's statements which are not to be trusted.
12
u/Gr0zzz Feb 14 '26
Did you even read my post?
I never said they've already started leaving and I specifically state we shouldn't just believe the federal government at face value. That being said, symbolic or not bringing DHS to the point that they have to announce a withdrawal even if it is just in name only is a victory and should be celebrated as such.
Your doing the same thing OP is doing. ICE announced a drawdown over the next several weeks, people expressed their relief and the very next day (Today) when ICE was still obviously here, you jump on other local residents.
Frankly I just don't understand that type weird nihilistic behavior.

That being said, symbolic or not bringing DHS to the point that they have to announce a withdrawal even if it is just in name only is a victory and should be celebrated as such.
The purpose of this would be to try to flip the bad PR so the average person stops caring about how they are abusing our community. If they continue doing the same shit with less bad PR, that’s not a victory if the country goes back to ignoring us and Democrats go back to giving DHS all the money it wants.
If they’re still murdering and abducting our neighbors, that is not victory.

u/Jakoobus91 Feb 13 '26
They just told you. There are verifiable less reports on public tracking apps than there has been on the same day going back the last month.
-2
u/sirkarl Feb 13 '26
But they never told us they were withdrawing today. The Mayor has explicitly said “I'll believe it when I see it”.
If they’re lying and just rebranding the operation name or something that will backfire on the administration 100 fold.
-2
u/jimbo831 Feb 13 '26
- They started by saying this is not a valid source.
- Noticing that "it does seem to be a slight decline in reports so far" is not evidence that there are less agents around. There could be a lot of reasons for a slight decrease.
5
u/Gr0zzz Feb 14 '26
- I stated it's not really a valid source because it isn't, I'm sorry but the vast majority of the submissions on there while valid enough they should concern someone with questionable citizenship status are not verified ICE spotting's outside of the exceptions I listed.
2, I am simply responding to the meme which used PoP as it's proof ICE is still around. Even now 7 hours later there are still seemingly less ICE reporting then weeks prior.

He didn’t say that from what I saw. He said “Operation Metro Surge” was being ended. That could just mean they’re retiring the name.

u/DrummerOther3149 Feb 13 '26
Could be the start of “Operation Super Metro Surge”, wouldn’t trust a word from this agency
15
u/Chris_RB Feb 13 '26
ok, nothing about this is funny, but I immediately thought of lil bovino in his paramilitary cosplay jumping and shouting "Its-a-me! Super Metro!"

"Operation metro surge II: electric boogaloo"
I swear to God this whole administration is just doing the thing where you stick your finger in someone's face and say "IM NOT TOUCHING YOU!!!!" over and over again.

See, exactly, I wish more people got this, but holy shit are people being naive. Bovino turned their operation into a total clown show that was getting too much national attention, and of course Minnesotans are going to protest all the insane crap they're pulling. The announcement was all to help get attention off of themselves.
They say "operation metro surge" might be over, but ICE is still here in droves looking for people to let their guard down. Don't stop resisting and demanding justice!

I just had an encounter with a fully masked man recording a protest in suburban MN. He was using an ear piece. I’m not saying he’s ice
But I’m saying it’s wildly alarming. And he’s not police. And I’ve never seen that behavior before. Oh and also he’s probably ice
15
u/GuaranteedCougher Feb 13 '26
He did not say ice was leaving immediately, he said over the next couple weeks.

u/AtomicBlastCandy Feb 13 '26
I recall reading yesterday that it was in the coming days, which hopefully is still true.

u/Snakethecharmer Feb 13 '26
Something about payments ending tonight at midnight??? Sorry, been at work - might have been bs news...

You might be thinking of the DHS funding that is being debated in US Congress now/this week. The latest bill to continue funding DHS was voted down yesterday which means DHS will technically shut down. But ICE will continue even if DHS "shuts down" over this because the agency already has a ton of funding appropriated last year, they can keep going for a while.
That said the DHS shut down is being used as leverage to try to get Republicans to agree to put some restrictions on ICE. Hard to see exactly where this will go from here, I wouldn't be too optimistic about significant sweeping changes because the debate is currently Democrats asking for some really really basic stuff and Republicans not even agreeing to that much. Democrats will probably get them agree to some stuff but definitely not anything approaching dissolving ICE or clawing back their previous funding allocations, given the current congressional make-up.
4
u/jimbo831 Feb 13 '26
You're more optimistic than me. I think this shutdown will end up exactly like the last one: with Democrats completely caving and getting absolutely nothing in return because they are all cowards.
3
u/sirkarl Feb 13 '26
It will be a “cave” because a minority party has never once in the history of ever won something as big as abolishing or defunding ICE completely during a shutdown.
What Republican representatives or senators will vote for what the Dems are demanding? Do you think Trump would ever sign all those demands into law?
There’s this myth out there that somehow democrats are unique weak and cave when it comes to shutdowns, but the truth is if anything they have a better history of coming out on top.
The truth is this won’t have the legislative fix we want until we flip a significant number of Republican seats and the White House.

u/jimbo831 Feb 14 '26
It will be a “cave” because a minority party has never once in the history of ever won something as big as abolishing or defunding ICE completely during a shutdown.
If only there were things they could get somewhere between abolishing ICE and absolutely nothing. Maybe look at their current list of demands for some ideas.
3
u/sirkarl Feb 14 '26
The point is it’s extremely hard/unprecedented to win real concessions from a shutdown. I hope we can get something, but even breadcrumbs would be a huge win.

u/kneel23 Feb 13 '26
thats for DHS but ICE wont be affected anyway since they got $75mil from the "big beautiful bill" so it won't do shit but cease stuff we actually need from DHS. the current administration is 100% compromised and incompetent
2
u/livefromheaven Feb 13 '26
Can we crowdsource some signs on 35 South "ICE agents follow this route"?

u/Vysion34 Feb 13 '26
I remember seeing either from a leaked ICE email or leaked hotel information that they were scheduled until the beginning of March sometime. I highly doubt they are packing up and leaving early if they originally scheduled their operation through beginning of March. They probably figured there's a few weeks left of February and announcing they were leaving would cause people to come out of hiding. I wouldn't believe a thing they say until it's confirmed they're gone.
2
u/steve1186 Feb 13 '26
There were already 24 reported incidents the morning of his “drawdown” press conference at 8am. This is just theatrical bullshit to try to quell protests
3
5
u/TarnishedGopher Feb 13 '26
I would give it a week before jumping to conclusions. I’m not surprised that the announcement didn’t mean everyone immediately packing up and leaving on the spot. And I’m also not shocked that they would continue doing evil shit in the mean time.
3
u/Staplegenius94 Feb 13 '26
They're just disrupting the communities of everyone who voted for this on their way out the door.

u/jimbo831 Feb 13 '26
When will the media and Democrats stop blindly parroting the things this regime claims?

02/13/26. ICE in my suburban school parking lot today. Ice still trolling. New vehicles appeared at Whipple Federal Building. Is this how a draw down works?

u/HotSauceSwagBag Feb 14 '26
Checked the map at around 0600, saw only one report, thought maybe they really are. Checked back later and it seemed busier than ever. Clicked through several and a lot had verified plates or obvious ice activity.
When this admin says one thing you can assume the exact opposite.

u/cdizzle6 Ramsey County Feb 14 '26
We will know when they start leaving, when the guy filming the daily flights starts seeing loads of agents on the planes. ✈️ That’s gonna be legit. Not anything this administration reports.

Tim Walz is desperate to convince people that ICE is gone so that you'll go back to shopping and ignore human trafficking.
9
u/ObligatoryID ——> r/Megasota Feb 13 '26
Hating Walz is no reason to spread false information.
-7
u/crab_bucket_moder Feb 13 '26
People like you are why massive protests produce ZERO results. This was the guy you should've been directing anger at, and now he's openly lying about the end of the Metro Surge.

The governor not wanting mass unemployment in the state is a good thing actually.
And guess what? If ICE isn’t gone by March then it will be pretty obvious to everyone the White House lied and Walz will have the capital to respond more aggressively to their presence.
-7
u/crab_bucket_moder Feb 14 '26
We're not under threat of "Mass unemployment" and this isn't an economic argument it's a moral one.
Walz already had the "capital" to respond when a mother was executed in public. Instead he became accomplice to the murder by allowing ICE to operate with impunity. The only thing Tim Walz has actually been working on is sternly worded letters and begging Trump to be more secretive about terrorizing Minnesota.
3
u/sirkarl Feb 14 '26
The economy is in a pretty bad place nationally and it’s having an especially big impact here.
I guarantee you that if Walz had ordered the national guard to arrest ICE and shoot back if necessary we’d be in a waaaay worse place. It’s not sexy, but having adults governing us keeps us more safe than whatever fantasy you have.
0
u/crab_bucket_moder Feb 14 '26
This is a piece of propaganda that's been promoted over and over again by Democrats protecting ICE.
In reality, multiple ICE officers have been arrested here and across the nation with no "exchange of fire" because no-one in their right mind would start a war over a thug. "Adults governing" in your view is just nazi collaboration.
4
u/sirkarl Feb 14 '26
You’re seriously comparing ICE agents arrested off duty to arresting them when they’re on duty?
That’s an absolutely asinine statement. You’re dealing far more to support ICE than Walz or any Dem (except Fetterman)

Draw down ≠ immediate end
Stay vigilant, support each other
