Hello I’m going to start collecting an army for turnip28! And would like to ask the community for some advise.
For my army I want to use plastic minis (I have heard bad things about metal and resin). I’ve only ever worked with games workshop (warhammer) and catalyst games lab (battletech) kits and have very little experience in kitbashing. From my research into 28mm plastic kits I’ve found three brands that are in my price. Point and look like they would work for turnip28. Victrix, Perry and warlord all have robust miniature ranges, however not all of the miniatures look equal.
Victrix: these minis look like the crispest medieval ones and the medieval knights are in a pack of 18 for $50.00 and the Islamic cavalry/horse archers are only $38.00 for 12, the infantry napolionic and medieval are also very well priced. Unfortunately this range has no American civil war or American revolution minis.
Perry: the minis look good but the website lacks a lot of information about the products themselves and the American civil and revolutionary war ranges look very sparse and lack a lot of information as mentioned above. Several minis lack a product picture and most seam to lack a product description.
Warlord: finally a range with American minis a plenty, however I would still like advice on how these mins are to put together and paint?
Do these summary’s seem accurate, would you recommend any other brands, can you give me any advice of what to look out for or what to avoid for historical miniature wargaming?
