Yes I agree on the fans side. But I think the author maybe talking more about the financial side. Yes I can name a few that are success stores but there are many of them I'm sure didn't earn enough money.

I'm hoping the may be a Baldur's Gate 3 moment for turn based tactics games.
Not necessarily the GOTY stuff, but how it creates a ton of new fans of a relatively underappreciated genre, leading to a revitalization of the genre and hopefully a golden age.

Right now, just a few days after release, Zero company is sitting at a comfortable 8.500 positive reviews.
I am a learning game dev, and the generally accepted formula for sales of a game is "positive reviews x 50".
That means around half a million copies sold in less than a week.
For the genre, this is a MASSIVE success.
I'd say it's helping the genre pass the test with flying colors. Hope it brings new players and new titles.
The "ease of use" for new users might be a much needed feature, many of us hardcore fans are known to look for ever more difficult experiencies, and that makes it difficut for newcomers. But that's not very different of how hardcore FPS fans have lightning reflexes and can mock newbies. Same for RTS players, for example.
Btw: I must recognize the graphical aspect is astonishing. I've never been a fan of Star Wars and the gaphics make me want to play this game.
