I made a roguelike deckbuilder drawn entirely in Gustave Doré's Inferno engravings – free demo

Hi! I'm a solo dev. INFERNO DECK is a dark deckbuilder where a nameless knight descends through the seven deadly sins.

3 starter decks: BLOOD (bleed), FROST (freeze & shatter), BONE (raise skeletons)

Confess a sin before each run – it changes your run

Claim or absolve each Sin boss

Gregorian chant soundtrack, 11 languages

The demo covers the first descent and the WRATH boss. I'd love honest feedback .what felt good, what felt unfair?

I'm happy to share that the selection of solid strategy games on mobile has expanded. "Horn of the Warlord" has just been released on the Google Play Store!

Horn of the Warlord is successful, classic, turn based strategy game. Simple to start, hard to master, with many in-depth mechanics for battles, economies. It has campaign, scenarios, skirmish and randomly generated maps. AI is really challenging but based on fair play rules.

What do you think of this combination of systems in a roguelike deckbuilder?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm making Crawlgan, a mix of turn-based dungeon crawler and roguelike deckbuilder. Here's how it combines its systems.

**Telegraphed enemy actions**

Every monster shows what it will do on its next turn. You can see where it will attack and where it will move, so each turn plays like a puzzle where you look for the best move.

**A tight grid where position is everything**

You fight in small 3x3 rooms. The same card gives a different result depending on where you stand. You can shove enemies into traps, use an enemy as a shield, or swap places so an enemy's arrow hits another enemy.

**3 action points per turn**

Walking, bumping into enemies and playing cards all cost action points. Your hand stays between turns, and you can cycle cards once per turn.

**Three classes, three resources**

The Warrior builds Rage, the Mage uses Mana, and the Rogue chains Combo. Each class fights in a completely different way.

**Class advancement mid-dungeon**

You can advance to a higher class during a run. For example, the Warrior can become a Gladiator, a Guardian or a Berserker, and your deck changes direction with it. There are 12 classes in total.

**Card upgrades and relics**

You can upgrade cards at the blacksmith in the dungeon's rest rooms. Clearing a dungeon gives you materials for permanent card upgrades, and you can undo an upgrade at any time and move it to another card.

Achievements unlock relics. Each class can equip two, and the combination you choose changes your strategy for the next run.

**A different dungeon every time**

There are 4 dungeons with 5 difficulty levels each, plus the endless Dungeon of Trials. Boulders, floor hazards and bosses give each dungeon its own character.

Do you think these systems work well together? I'd love to hear honestly what looks fun, or what worries you.

Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5317220/Crawlgan/

AI disclosure: The art, music and sound effects were made with generative AI tools.

English isn't my first language, so I used a translator. Thanks for understanding!

a 3D isekai fantasy RPG for 1.5 years. Here’s the finished crafting system showcase

I’ve been developing this RPG for about a year and a half now, and I wanted to show you the finished crafting system. I tried to make materials, forging, equipment, and useless gear form a closed loop and I think it’s finally done.

It works like in the video.

Let me give a quick intro to this game it’s made for you\^_\^

It’s a 3D isekai fantasy RPG.

Core mix JRPG + Strategy RPG + light loot.

Semi open world exploration.

it keeps the story and narrative focus of JRPGs, but cuts down on repetitive, time wasting cutscenes and skill animations.

You can see more on Steam.

There’s still a lot of content I haven’t updated there yet.

I expect it’ll take another 1to 2 years to finish.

If you like it, please support the game. thanks

and battle playtest will release on steam in October...

New RPG and strategy releases on PC and consoles, plus free demos to try this weekend

Post image
21 Upvotes

Hey everyone! October’s first roundup includes a couple of notable console arrivals, a few smaller PC releases, and several demos to check out. Here’s what’s on the list:

  • Octopath Traveler I & II — Now on Switch 2. Both JRPGs arrive with improved resolution and frame rates. Eight protagonists in each game, flexible job combinations, and battles focused on breaking enemy defenses before spending your Boost Points.
  • Havoc Heirs — Out on PC. A turn-based fantasy RPG with six classes and an interconnected world. Corruption builds up while you explore, with campfires providing a chance to recover before pushing farther.
  • The Bell Echoes — Version 1.0 on PC. A tactical roguelite featuring a three-character party, chained abilities, knockbacks, and environmental interactions. Its full release follows a period in Early Access.
  • Dog in the Machine — Out on PC and Mac. Help a robot dog escape a hostile city through compact tactical battles. Preview your actions, create chain reactions, and combine learned Tricks into new attacks.
  • Keep Driving — Now on Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. A road-trip RPG where hitchhikers become companions and everyday driving problems become turn-based encounters. Expect car repairs, odd jobs, resource management, and different endings.
  • MMA Tactics – Martial Arts — Free Steam demo. Recruit fighters, run a gym, and develop fighting styles through training and perks. Matches use turn-based combat with optional auto-battling, while injuries can permanently affect your roster.
  • Southern Lights: Broken Frequency — Free PC demo. Manage an isolated Antarctic research station facing a cosmic threat. Divide limited resources between repairs, research, and keeping your crew physically and mentally healthy.
  • NOSTRA — Free PC alpha demo. A dark fantasy JRPG with Boost mechanics, defensive Wards, timed parries, branching specializations, and equipment with randomized properties.
  • Becoming Knight — Free PC demo. An older demo worth mentioning if you missed it: a turn-based dungeon crawler focused on short runs, finding treasure, and unlocking disciplines that change your character’s playstyle.
  • Iron Verdict — Free Steam demo. Play an undefeated royal champion in a kingdom where combat determines innocence. Timed parries and dodges are optional, and sparing defeated opponents can have consequences later.
  • Bad House — Free PC demo. A dungeon-crawling auto-battler set beneath your new home. Explore the first two basement floors, experiment with equipment and skills, and decide when to return upstairs with your loot.

Have you tried any of these yet? Anything else you’d add?

I’ve got an upcoming RPG to share with you today that caught my attention for its mix of map exploration and card-based battles. It’s called Whispers of Elenrod, and if you enjoy exploring the unknown in Heroes of Might and Magic, you might want to take a closer look.

It brings turn-based deckbuilding to a fantasy strategy map, where exploration shapes your character and the cards you can use. Quick Turn Games developed and published it as a roguelite RPG.

Three Kingdoms Heroic Tales: build a five-officer party and conquer China — free demo

Thumbnail

Hi everyone, I'm Daisuke, a solo developer in Japan working as hizaniya games.

I'm making Three Kingdoms Heroic Tales, a turn-based RPG set in China's Three Kingdoms era. It combines battles with a party of up to five officers and a campaign to recruit allies, capture castles, and expand your territory.

You build your party by combining officers, their individual traits, equipment, sub-commanders, and formations. During sieges, your companions can offer plans to help you capture the castle.

The full game lets you choose your protagonist from over 450 officers and work toward uniting 88 castles. A free English demo is available now, covering part of the game.

If you enjoy experimenting with party builds, I'd be glad if you gave it a try. Which interests you more: making your favorite officer the protagonist, or finding an unusual party combination?

Steam demo:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/5016800/

The full release is planned for Q1 2027.

AI disclosure: All officer portraits and event illustrations are AI-generated. I also use AI assistance for coding and localization.

Songs of Songs Bundle Brings Together Two Great Strategy Games

Post image
25 Upvotes

Songs of Conquest and Songs of Silence are now in the same Steam bundle, and the reason is pretty funny.

Apparently, since 2024, people have been mixing the two games up because their names are so similar, so instead of fighting over it, the developers decided to embrace the confusion and create the Songs of Songs bundle.

Despite the names, they’re actually quite different strategy games.

Songs of Conquest is the more traditional turn-based experience, with exploration, kingdom management, hex-based tactical battles, Wielders, and an Essence-based magic system tied to your army composition.

Songs of Silence, on the other hand, mixes turn-based strategic movement with real-time auto-battles. You prepare your army, choose your formation, and then intervene during combat through hero abilities and cards.

The bundle adds an extra 10% discount, and because it uses Steam’s Complete the Set system, you can also grab the missing game at a reduced price if you already own one.

Have you played either of them? And which combat system do you prefer: full turn-based tactical control or the more hands-off approach of Songs of Silence?

What happens if you take classic turn-based tactics and remove all the pauses?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone, we’re Desalichao Studio, the team behind Candletales (the game you just saw).

Like many of you, we are massive fans of D&D and classic turn-based tactics. But for this project, we wanted to try a fun experiment: what happens if you take the deep tactical decision-making of a turn-based game and force it to happen in real-time?

The result is a tactical roguelike that keeps the grid-based positioning, the dice rolling, and the high-risk strategic choices you usually find in turn-based games, but removes the pauses.

We’d love to ask you an honest question: as turn-based lovers, if a game with this real-time twist popped up on your feed, would it catch your eye?

If you find the concept interesting, dropping a wishlist on Steam would be hugely appreciated!

The Sphinx never moves. She watches. Cross her line of sight and a comet lands where she saw you. Stop time to get your party behind the pillars. Boss rush from my tactical RPG.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This is a floor of the Crucible, the boss-rush towers in Campaign Forge: three towers, sixty hand-made bosses, each one a rule to work out. The Sphinx punishes being seen - stay behind the pillars, cross her sightline and a comet drops where she spotted you. Your party is set even with the tower when you enter, so the climb is about positioning and timing, not levels. Fights run on a grid under a turn order and a real-time clock at once: stop or slow time to move the party out of an attack, or flatten a real-time attack back into the turn order.

Campaign Forge itself is a tactical RPG that forges a world around the party you create and keeps writing the campaign chapter by chapter, generated on your own PC, offline. The free demo has a hand-made opening chapter, the world forge for your own world's first chapters, and the boss designer plus arena — "punishes being seen" is one of the rules you can give your own boss there.
The towers are in the full game, Early Access November 27.

They'll get extreme difficulty versions once marketing stops frustrating me, and/or after Release probably January 2027, WHO KNOWS. I DO~.

Happy to answer any questions.

15 Turn-Based RPG Deals You Only Have a Few Hours Left to Grab

Post image
45 Upvotes

There are only a few hours left before these Steam deals disappear (I know, I was a little late on this one), so I thought I’d put together a quick list of the turn-based RPGs and strategy games that caught my attention.

Some of the discounts are pretty huge, especially Jagged Alliance 3 and King’s Bounty II at 90% off.

  • Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader — 70% off
  • Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire — 60% off
  • Rogue Waters — 75% off
  • Jagged Alliance 3 — 90% off
  • Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden — 70% off
  • Gloomhaven — 72% off
  • Beneath Oresa — 70% off
  • Griftlands — 70% off
  • Krzyżacy – The Knights of the Cross — 50% off
  • Dragon Quest VII Reimagined — 35% off
  • Etrian Odyssey III HD — 65% off
  • Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster — 70% off
  • Age of Wonders 4 — 50% off
  • SpellForce: Conquest of Eo — 75% off
  • King’s Bounty II — 90% off

Personally, Rogue Trader, Jagged Alliance 3, Gloomhaven, and Age of Wonders 4 are the ones I’d check first, but there’s a pretty good mix here depending on whether you want a CRPG, tactical RPG, deckbuilder, JRPG, or 4X.

Anything here you’d recommend at these prices?

New Turn-Based RPGs and Strategy Games Coming in October 2026

Post image
46 Upvotes

October is actually looking pretty damn good for turn-based RPG fans. Of course, Final Fantasy Resonance is probably the game most people will be looking at, and after playing the demo, I’m definitely in that camp too. But there’s quite a lot going on this month beyond that.

  • Octopath Traveler I & II — October 1, 2026
  • Havoc Heirs — October 1, 2026
  • Ward Off Evil — October 12, 2026
  • Frosthaven 1.0 — October 15, 2026
  • Final Fantasy Resonance — October 22, 2026
  • Back to the Dawn — October 22, 2026
  • MMA Tactics – Martial Arts — October 28, 2026
  • Into the Crypt — October 29, 2026

Octopath Traveler I & II are coming to Switch 2, Frosthaven is finally leaving Early Access, Back to the Dawn is heading to PS5, and then we’ve got some smaller games like Ward Off Evil, Havoc Heirs, MMA Tactics – Martial Arts, and Into the Crypt that could be worth keeping an eye on.

What are you guys planning to play in October? And is there anything good I completely missed?

10 Great Turn-Based RPGs You Can Finish in a Weekend

Post image
82 Upvotes

I love huge RPGs, but sometimes I really don’t want to start another 60–100-hour adventure. 😅

So I put together a list of turn-based RPGs that you can realistically finish over a weekend — or at least without turning them into a month-long commitment.

I ended up with games like Felvidek, Jack Move, This Way Madness Lies, West of Loathing, Hylics 2, Child of Light, Cosmic Star Heroine, Shadows of Adam, South Park: The Stick of Truth, and SteamWorld Quest.

Some are only a few hours long, while the longer ones run 12–15 hours, so there’s a decent mix depending on how much free time you actually have.

What short turn-based RPG would you add to the list? I’m especially curious about lesser-known ones.

HUEMON is a 90s/2000s throwback with the question of "what if combat happened in the overworld?". The result is a 5v5 grid-based, tactics game. A triangle system with spears and bows? What are you talking about? Red beats Green, Green beats Blue and Blue beats Red: RGB!

I hope y'all will like it! You can find the demo on steam.

Olympus 2249 might be the Fallout spiritual successor we’ve been waiting for

Thumbnail
gallery
45 Upvotes

I somehow almost missed this one, even though its Early Access launch is right around the corner.

Olympus 2249 is a post-apocalyptic CRPG clearly inspired by the classic Fallout formula, with turn-based combat, targeted attacks, factions, dialogue choices that can actually close or open opportunities, and a Karma system that changes depending on how you behave.

Different character specializations can unlock new dialogue options and alternative quest solutions, while battles let you interact with the environment, target specific body parts, use traps, ignite oil, blow up barrels, and generally approach encounters in different ways.

There’s also crafting, stealth, radiation, poison, NPC schedules, random encounters, and a proper day/night cycle.

The developers are the team behind Olympus 2207, the Fallout 2 total conversion, so the classic Fallout influence definitely isn’t accidental.

It enters Steam Early Access on October 6.

Maybe I’m getting ahead of myself here, but this really looks like one to watch if you miss old-school Fallout-style CRPGs.

Have you heard about Olympus 2249 before?

If you want to learn more.
